Racist Britain

Makes me smile to think of the hundreds of thousands of Brits living in Spain and Greece and France and how those nationalities feel about all that fish and chips and beer and must-have-Sky-dishes and other cultural necessities taking over chunks of their sunny real estate right in their midst. To paraphrase:

“Oh yeah, me and the misus love it aut ‘ere. Sold up in Lahdun and bought a luvly gaf for nuffin. Loads of us ‘ere. We got pubs an’ everyfing”

It’s funny how it’s always seen as something others do to us.

I suppose what I meant to add was; spot the economic migrant ?

You mean the all-white neighborhood that I live in, with the car-thieving white hoodlums that joyride at high speed down the street?

The homogenously white street where white 3-year-olds play out in the street unaccompanied at midnight, and where white children roam the street armed to the teeth with fireworks, with which they attacked our only non-white neigbours?

Nah, can’t be bothered…

Precisely. Let’s posit two types of neighborhoods, Creative_Munster:

  1. Inhabited by middle-class Indians, Indonesians, Jamaicans, Koreans, etc.

  2. Inhabited by poor, uneducated, welfare-dependent whites.

In which one would you “tend to think that such neighborhoods are associated with less crime and a friendlier, more stable atmosphere”?

Well, in the case of 2, it depends if they’re normal British white people or Micks, Pikeys or them well dodgy Kosovakians.

I’ve boggled at your remark for a while and still can’t quite credit it. Are you really telling me that the difference between 40 and 26 is not 14? The rest of your idiotic comments aren’t worth responding to.

Why do I have to visit Ireland to see that the difference between English and Irish cultures (which, you might like to note, is what I was talking about - NOT what it is like for an English person to live in Ireland) are relatively small. Smaller than, say, the difference between English and Iranian cultures. And how you can find anything “Imperialistic” in such an observation just astounds me.

Jesus, what’s the bloody matter with people here? Someone says one thing and you either hear something completely different, or you deliberately mischaracterize what was said, apparently for extra indignation. It’s like you’re all bloody mad! Not all of the time of course, but on this subject - on anything racial, cultural, etc etc, - you are (take my word for it) all completely, and utterly, mad! For god’s sake, stop it!

Reuben, you’re missing the point.

While Ireland and england have comparitive cultures, there are an awful lot of differences. Not “almost the same”, but comparitive at least. I understand what you were tryiong to say, and possibly one or two of the replies are a bit over the top, but alot of us are still a little antsy with being lumped in with the English for everything (well, at least when we are doing well at things).

what you seem to be missing in regards to most of the points regarding the study is that it comes across as Racist to want to live in an area exclusively of your own colour AND culture. It’s like jjimm not wanting bibliovore as his next door neighbour, but not objecting to any random white english person on sight alone because he would be from the same culture as him.
