I’m sitting out on the patio in Houston Texas and it’s raining.
Torrents.
I even hear thunder in the skies.
Excuse me, but I’ll be out dancing in the rain for a few…
Yippee!

… falls mainly on the mesas.
Wait. That doesn’t even rhyme.
It’s been so dry here that even thinking about lighting a cig starts a wildfire.
I can’t express enough how this little shower feels.
Two days ago it sprinkled in the morning. Not enough to even get through the mesquite trees’ branches, but enough to bring the temperature down a little and settle some of the dust.
Same thing this morning–light sprinkling off and on. But I just heard thunder and it is actually raining! Real rain drops and not just a fine mist. What a relief…I hope this continues for two or three days so the aquifer can recharge and the risk of wildfires is eliminated.
ETA: just checked the radar loop and it looks like we’re in the path of a biggie coming eastbound from Uvalde. Got my fingers crossed for rain, and not hail!
I’m in Houston for a conference, and the locals are staring up at the skies in wide-eyed amazement right now.
We were out driving around in it. Not by choice, mind you, but we were sure happy to see it. I hope that the rains make it up to the Bastrop area.
Great news!
It’s about 15 miles away from Bastrop right now. Just thunder and lots of wind so far.
Are there currently any fires burning in the area?
only a few drops in the Nasa area…Clouds were all around, but we missed it…
The biggest (and only one one still burning) is 85% contained.
Is it smokey in Austin?
They are saying that this pestering high pressure zone is moving off down towards Mexico.
I sure hope so, as we are parched. I blame it on El Nino and that dang earth wobble that occurs every so often.
I have never wanted a Tropical Storm or Hurricane to move this way before (been there-done that), but dang-nabbitt we need some relief.
However, it was fun catching raindrops in our mouths this morning.
fffffft…hey, wanna hit off this?
Just an update for those who are concerned…
Hey, hoping for rain here too. So where in TX are you?
No shit.
Typically we have the afternoon semi-tropical shower every so often, but not lately.

The OP should visit Ireland sometime. 24/7 rain dancing.
