Rainbow 6: Siege

Definitely do all the scenarios. Also, spend some time doing Lone Wolf terror hunts to help learn the maps. I personally quit out of any Bomb Hunts or Hostage Defense missions because they’re not worth the effort solo but Traditional Terror Hunt and Hostage Rescues are good. I suppose you can also do a Bomb Hunt just as a “kill all the dudes” but I’d rather play Traditional for that and get the completion bonus.

I did once solo a Bomb Hunt by completely abusing claymores. It took forever and wasn’t even a little worth it except to know I did it and never have to do it again

It’s definitely helpful but, if you’re playing with randoms, they tend not to coordinate anyway so don’t think that you’ll be different for not having one. The times I’ve played with friends and had a random join in, they have communicated with the rest of our team exactly 0% of the time. That’s obviously less helpful than having a team communicating and being tactical but I think that’s the sort of thing you get when you have people who play together regularly. My friends and I communicate but we rotate through a lot of games and use Discord for general bullshitting anyway so we’re always mic’d when we’re playing.

Very helpful info, Jophiel. Thank you!

Siege has been growing and adding a lot of content throughout its existance - it’s the healthiest it’s ever been right now, and the full version is on steam for $20. If you’ve thought about getting into it, now is a good time. Don’t buy the $15 starter edition when the full version is there for $5 more.

Rainbow Six Siege is having a free weekend this weekend. So there’s that.

More interestingly, in Six Siege news, is word that both Ranked and Casual will have the number of available maps diminished in Season 3 (greatly, in the case of Ranked) and that Ubi will eventually be removing maps from the game entirely:

I’ve heard suggested that the “data limit” thing is a console limitation where games can only be so large – although naturally they’d cut the same maps on PC for “parity”.
