I think they found it inefexual
You just have to take any post in the right confext
That thread was pure genius. Pure fexing genius.
“And yet the spacious breadth of this division admits no orifex for a point as subtle as Ariachne’s broken woof to enter.” – Wllm Shakespeare.
I’m not sure what it means, but I think it’s probably naughty.
I am really confused. Just check out my sig! I started my habit here posting about my breasts, and was richly rewarded by Cecil with a column. There isn’t much I wouldn’t post here, I do have no shame and up to today, I thought that was welcome as long as I sometimes contributed something more than “Hey, I have big tits!”
Has there been any posting delineating the exact tone we are to maintain? Cecil, could you help us?
Now, that’s gotta hurt.
You know, I think anything that Cecil sees fit to write a column about should be fair game to start a thread about. And I bet Cecil would be more than happy to write a column about labia if someone threw a good question at him. For that matter, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d write a column about exploding testicles (“Dear Cecil: Will my testicles explode if …?”) Cecil gets some really weird mail and he seems to almost revel in answering the really weird ones.
I get the distinct impression we’re not going to be hearing from Tuba or any mod about this. I find that disappointing, considering the murkiness of the situation. I hope I am proven wrong, however.
Esprix
I agree, Esprix. Heavy-handed moderation has proven a death knell for a lot of interesting and dynamic forums that I’ve participated in in the past. I wish there were genuine guidelines to refer to in this case, because I don’t know why (and which) TMI threads are all of a sudden taboo.
The incident’s kind of uneasy-making, but a death knell?
Bit early for that.
Esprix, I thought you were off rapin’ and pillagin’?
Is the drama keeping you at home? ('Cuz I know I’ve spent about 10 of the last 14 hours online, waiting for the some development… It’s worse than watching a “developing story” on CNN.)
I find the instituting of newboard policies with no warning beforehand or explanation afterwards more than a little perplexing - all the moreso because it isn’t the admins normal style.
This is all a bit H2G2 for me.
I guess we have no choice but to wait for a statement from on high, but it’s extremely disconcerting that one hasn’t yet been made.
Yeah, I’m not so sure it’s the end of civilization as we know it - but it would be nice to know, one way or the other.
I honestly don’t believe that the discussion here is the end of it all - I really think we’ll get some kind of official intervention at some point. Have you noticed that not only hasn’t Tuba chimed in, but neither has any other administrator or moderator? Might be as was said earlier - they’re still discussing exactly what the policy should be. And the only reason we’re discussing it here is that Tuba closed the thread with a snappy remark.
So let’s just wait and see what they say - what’s the explanation, the reasoning, and the policy. I’m sure we’ll all have the opportunity to comment on it all then, too.
May I ask a question?
- Well BBJ, you just did *
Has anyone actually emailed Tuba about this?
I think I’ve seen the mods in the past chastise folks for not emailing them. That may be why she’s not responding…
Re the OP though, I’m confused, too as I think that the labia thread and the sperm thread were both interesting.
Hmm. For what I will say only are personal reasons, I’m not so sure that e-mailing her about this would be a good idea. I think it might be a bad idea to put all this pressure on her. Let’s be like Jesus on this matter. He places only light burdens on people. The burden being placed on her here is heavy.
Well, she is an administrator, and has been for quite a long time - how much pressure could an email bring? And from what I’ve seen of her, she does not seem the type to bow to any pressure.
What do you think she is, a robot? She has feelings, too, Dan.
And where did I say otherwise? Or are you referring to only emails that are demanding an explanation? In this case the issue isn’t whether she should be emailed but rather how well-worded, discreet, well-intentioned, and polite such an email should be.
To misquote Terry Pratchett
“I believe you mean ravishin.”
“What’s the difference?”
“No one ever complains.”
Back To The Op-
I’m confused as well. The descriptions in the labia thread remind me of Georgia O’Keefe. It seemed to be a genuine exploration of one of the aspects of human diversity. Not “Tell us about yer kitty!” “Yeah!” “Huh…Huh Huh”.
I hope some change isn't coming. As the ad says "Change is bad."
Okay, sorry. I misunderstood you. I think an e-mail telling her that she’s beautiful and loved is a great idea.
