"Raising the tone of the board"

I agree whole heartedly with Tuba. In fact, I nominate the following items for total expulsion from this website.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Five.

Six.

Seven.

Eight.

Nine.

Ten.

Mind you, there’s much more where that came from. I have only scratched the surface of items that are bringing down the tone of this place considerably.

Larry, I leave for Pennsic tomorrow morning. Don’t miss me too much.

Goodness, the labia thread was not only not offensive, it was a valuable way of fighting ignorance. A huge percentage of women (we’re not in GD so I’m not gonna go digging around for cites) characterize their genitals as “ugly”. Furthermore, women rarely see the genitals of other women, so they sit around feeling like freaks if they perceive that theirs varies from some imagined norm. And guys just sit there being confused at their partners apparently irrational views regarding their thingies.

If we had more open talk about female genetalia, perhaps women could become just a bit more comfortable with their bodies, and perhaps a bit more likely to have good fun enjoyable sex. There would be less antagonism between men and women and between women and women. I’d call that a worthy cause. Havn’t you guys heard all the to-do about the Vagina Monologues or the book Cunt? It’s time for society to be a least a little more open about women’s genitals, instead of acting like they are the most disgusting and unspeakable things possible.

Esprix, are you SCA? Well, have a blast at Pennsic; wish I could go this year. If you’re a fighter, you’ll enjoy the Fort.

What could possibly be wrong with talking about genitals? In any case, the “tone” of this board has spoiled me. The level of intellectual argument, not to mention the standards of spelling and grammar, are so much higher than I’ve encountered elsewhere that it’s painful to read some of the barely-literate postings in other message boards.

Here here, even sven.

First the closing of the labia thread, then rules in the Pit, now shutting down a thread because it concerns Scylla’s Exploding Testicles (can’t believe I am the first, but Band Name! Whoopee, my very first!).

Can’t believe what the world is coming to. Why, in MY day, we had to talk about having our nuts bitten off by rabid beavers before we had a thread locked.

And we were grateful for it.

These kids today. I don’t know what they are coming to. Mark my words, this is all a result of taking God out of the Pledge of Allegiance. How do we know THAT isn’t what is making Scylla’s testes swell?

Food for thought, although not MY thought.

Regards,
Shodan

You left off my favorite, Nanook

Eleven.

and the associated MPSIMS thread posted by none other than Ed Zotti, himself (scroll down for his post - it’s one of the threads that got jumbled in the software upgrade)…

I guess nothing really is too much information.

I wonder if this ever might be an instance of the SD re-opening a locked thread?

Nah.

ssssssslllllllliiiiiidddddddiiiiiiinnnnnggggg down the sssslllliiippperrryyy slope of Mount Mundane!

From the column that Shayna linked to:

If Cecil seems to think it’s a good thing, who are we to argue?

Well, I just had my first look at the labia thread, and I think that if more people had actually CONTRIBUTED to the discussion instead of just posting smilies, then TubaDiva may have left it open.

I never saw the thread in the first place, else I would have written something constructive. As it was, only four or so people had anything to say. Maybe that was the reason why TubaDiva shut it down; the majority of those posting seemed truly disturbed by the topic.

Just speculating here, though.

Okay, I’ll admit to being a bit lazy, but my eyeballs are getting dry from to much reading, and it may even be pertinent (if I’m right, for a change), but weren’t there a couple of GQ penis threads locked not too long (maybe the last 10 days or so) ago?
