Ralph Nader...Seriously, STFU!

Whoops, sorry. Consider that request redirected to Little Nemo.

I, for one, think Nader is worth listening to. Afterall, he never shuts up about Middle Eastern-American issues. . He is the perfect person to be calling Obama out on his white ways, and I salute him.

No, but try this.

Let’s take a moment to reflect and applaud Nader’s many ground-breaking accomplishments and contributions. OK, that’s enough. STFU, Ralph!

All politicians talk about everything. Nothing new about Obama. Nader has a good point: we’re going to elect Obama because he’s black. Affirmative action? Done! White guilt? Done!

There’s nothing about Obama that is in any way special, other than his cross-over race.

Seriously, what is the guy going to do, other than prove he can be as white as the next guy? Does he have the guts to accomplish anything? Anything at all?

Don’t be silly. I, for example, am going to vote for him simply because he’s not the Republican.

And the idea that his race would be anything other than a net negative in America is naive. He’s succeeding in spite of his race, not because of it.

Do you really think he’s overcoming his race, or banking on it? I don’t know. I really don’t. Some blacks make it despite life, some blacks make it because they’re a competent black and whites need one to fill a quota.

I think Obama is going to spend most of his time proving he’s not all that black, which seems fucked up to me. Be black! Be fucking black, dude! I’m not electing a white guy with make-up!

Can you give some specific examples of what he should do to “be black”?

More to the point, can you give reasons why “being black” would make him more qualified to be president?

Can you give me some examples of what he’s going to have the cajones to do that any ten-for-a-dime white guy wouldn’t do?

What’s the point? Ooh, we elected another white guy. Whoopie!

Why are we electing him (I’m voting for him)? What’s he going to do differently but be black? We’re electing him because he’s black. Since he’s black, he’s different. Since he’s different, I expect something different. We’re not going to get anything different. Except he’s black. Wow, what fun.

We’re electing him because he’s black (and not Republican). What’s he going to do differently? Not a damn thing, that’s what.

We need a president who just might shake things up, and Obama is the last person who’s going to shake anything up. He can’t. He’s black, and has to prove he’s white.

All of those issues Nader is bringing up might be worthwhile issues to force to the forefront, poverty, usurious payday loans, asbestos, etc. Why isn’t he asking McCain to take these on?

Further, besides the angry yoke that would be hung around his neck, as soon as he (Obama) frames any issue simply from a black point of view, he’ll definitely be accused of pushing an agenda that gives blacks more attention (and somehow advantages) than the rest of the citizenry. Who, black, white, elderly or female wants to paint themselves into a specific and limiting corner like that?

Yeah, tap dance harder, Obama! If I’m gonna pay $30 bucks to see a minstrel show, by gollee, I want to see some real shuckin and jivin.

Whatever he does or does not do that’s different, it has nothing to do with “being black.” Needing to have cojones, I can give you.

That may be why you’re voting for him, which I think is silly. I’m voting for him because I agree with his message, many of his policies and his abilities (and I’m sick of the Republican ruining the country); none of these have to do with his race.

No, he happens to be black and has to show he’s going to be a leader looking out for the interests of everybody. Not, as in the case of the present, of the haves but not the have-nots.

Only assholes use expressions like “white guilt.”

Exactly. Thank you.

Heh. I could set my watch in the time I figured it would take to pull out this old chestnut.

What, you think I want Obama to pass a law making the Star Bangled Banner a rap song?

Seriously, why did he rise to the top? His challenging progressive policies or he’s really, really fucking safe?

I thought challenging McCain to visit an inner city (in response to McCain’s comment that Obama should visit Iraq) was pretty fucking ballsy, actually.

As a white man, I guess McCain isn’t expected to care about that stuff.

Not be a Republican or an idiot, after 8 years of Republican idiot rule.

Prove it. America is a country prejudiced AGAINST black people, not in favor of them.

Another silly statement. There isn’t anything he CAN do to do that, so he won’t. And, if being black is what’s getting him elected, why would he want to in the first place ? You can’t have it both ways; either his race is an asset, or it’s something so awful he has to “prove” he isn’t black; not both.

Why? I’m sure McCain, like most politicians, spends lots of time in DC, which is about as inner city as you can get. You think Obama spends more time in the ‘hood’ than McCain does?

I’ve actually seen, and met Barney Frank walking around DC, in areas people get mugged all the time.

Which part(s) of DC are you talking about? The entirety of Washington DC is not a ghetto.

levdrakon, are you sure you’re not having us on?
