ramen noodles!

I had a broke roommate in college. He’d spend 50 cents for supper by getting a boc of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese and packet of instant potatoes. He’d boil the noodles, then instead of draining the water, he’d pour in the instant potatoes. Then he poured in the powdered cheese. All that starch kept him full.

If you care not at all about your heart, here’s a recipe for the fabulous RAMLETTE!

1 pkg ramen noodles
1 T butter
1-2 eggs
Cook the ramen as usual, but don’t add the little spice packet! Drain the water after yer ramen is all cooked. Melt butter in skillet. Add noodles. Cook for a few mins, turning the noodles occasionally. Add spice packet and your eggs. You can mix the eggs up before in a small bowl if you’re feeling ambitious. Cook until the eggs are done. Enjoy!

If Eve had her way, this thread would be titled, “Everyone Loves Ramen.”

I don’t see how anyone can not like ramen noodles. Probably some if the best soup ever.

I am so getting some ramen packets after work tomorrow. YUM!

I am so with you! All this ramen talk… I have tons of Asian sauces & pastes in the fridge… I totally want to whip up some ramen and dress it up with a nice sweet & spicy sauce… with some vegetables…

Dude, we could have a Ramen Dopefest! That would so kick ASS!!!

LOL.

I can do wonders with just about anything in the kitchen. I don’t consider ramen somehow base or anything. Like I said in a previous post, I use ramen to make “noodle pancakes” for Cantonese chow mein.

Let’s see, now, what could I do with what’s in the kitchen right now…

I have Biryani curry paste, hoisin sauce, black bean & garlic paste, oyster sauce, Asian chili & garlic paste, sweet Asian hot chili sauce… the possibilities are endless. And a nice bag of frozen vegetables in the freezer. The only thing I’m missing, ironically, is ramen noodles.

Long live ramen! (and rice…)

I’ve also got a fantastic recipe for a mainly potato-based curry with yogurt that I can pass on…

Cheap eats can be good eats!

[gloat]Here, we have ramen (or saimin) shops up the yin yang, delicious local brands where the noodles are in a package (still “wet”—I don’t know the culinary term), everywhere you turn. If any of you visit Hawaii, I absolutely recommend visiting a shop on King St. named Washington Saimin. [/gloat]

Ok, the Stupendous man method:

Put enough water into pot for two packages. One is never enough.
Add contents of flavor packets to water while still cold (or unboiled at least…)
When boiling, add two packets of noodles and cook them in the broth.
Drain broth, and enjoy.

Or, just do like my little bro does: Crush them up in the package, sprinkle flavoring over them, shake, and eat…

If its a Ramen Dopefest, ya’ll want I’ll be happy to host it in “the kitchen of Japan” (Chinese noodle? What are those? :P) My favorite - proccesed cheese and canned corn, with the hottest hot sauce available.

:smack: In friend’s goodie-packages to the US, I always included ramen. I thought you didn’t know the stuff. blush
ramen fanatic here as well.

I’m with ya there. I like to add a can of tuna to the water along with the flavor packets but I don’t drain the noodles after they’re cooked. I pour the soup into a big bowl and add some cheese, I’ve found colbyjack works best.

I’ve also found a way to approximate hot & sour soup with Ramen.
