This is the same Rammsteing that had the hit: “Du Hast” in the late 90s.

It’s Wunderbar!
I, too, love that song. And it’s so patriotic! You can tell that nice German man really loves our country
He likes amerikan people just fine, just not some of the politics and the need to amerikanize everything.
I like sonne better; that’s some crazy shit right there.
No idea what they are talking about. Cool (official) video though.
I call shenanigans. They’re not really on the moon. They’re not even wearing helmets. More fake news from the Germans.
I don’t know. It’s one thing when people criticize the flaws in their own country. But when people from one country criticize the flaws in another country, it can easily sound like bigotry.
Imagine an American band writing a song about things that are wrong with Germany.
they’re not criticizing the flaws of American culture. They’re lamenting that these flaws seems to be our biggest and most vigorous export.

How is that not a flaw?
It’s not a bug; it’s a feature!
Keep going, You’re almost there!

Damn, I’d forgotten this video. Ausgezeichnet!!
My impression is that it wasn’t about any supposed flaws with America itself so much as it is being annoyed towards global monoculture. We all drink Coca-Cola, we all consume Disney media, etc. Because of the way history went, America became the dominant cultural power, but if somehow France had become the dominant global cultural power, I think the basic concept of the some would be the same, only the names and details would be different.
I gotta say–I got linked to the “Sonne” video some time ago, I liked it enough to go through the rest–they make some damn good videos, and awesome stage productions.
I love Rammstein. I don’t even know what to call their style of music. I just think of it as a really talented example of northern European heavy metal music but even that doesn’t seem quite right because they throw in a lot of showmanship as well. The closest American band I would compare them to is Guns N Roses during their Appetite for Destruction phase but even that isn’t very close.
I couldn’t give a single shit about their politics or message. I just think they are really talented and would have made it much bigger if they were American rather than German ironically enough.
I’d agree with your stance if the countries in question were, say, Canada and Germany, with generally unilateral relationships. Germany’s relationship with America is different and far from unilateral in the sense that America has a disproportionate effect German politics and culture. This difference is most obvious in the fact that the US currently still has military bases in Germany, whereas the Germany has none in the US. This difference IMO gives a German band like Rammstein a reasonable basis to criticize American flaws.*
*Sort of bolstering my point, the band was originally named Rammstein-Flugschau, after the 1988 Ramstein Air disaster that occurred at US Air Force’s Ramstein Air base.
Two M’s - means ramming stone, or so they say:cool:
Love that song! Crushed hard on snow white.
Wunderbar. How about an old fashion pile on? I was thinking I’m so bored with the USA, but this one is much better. The contempt of the lead singer at “a certain tv show” in New York is phenomenal. – No, seriously, when I saw this on TV many many years ago I was blowned away: - YouTube
PS. Americans, we love you. I have met many Americans and befriended a few, and have yet to meet a citizen of the USA I didn’t like. This is just fun and games, Coca Cola, bombs and Donald Trump. Not about people who happened to be born in the USA.
This. Totally took me out of the movie.
