I have found a new love, Ramune soda, but I can only find it for two dollars a bottle locally. I would like to buy it by the case or by the bushel
I don’t care. I love the soda with the toy in the bottle and I would love to find it in any flavor. Does anyone know of a exotic soda dealer or someone importing this stuff from Japan? I have tried searching for it but I haven’t had any luck so far. So I turn to the SDMB for help.
Here’s a description of Ramune (pronounced rah-moo-nay) soda for people who aren’t familiar with it. It has a marble that seals the neck of the bottle, which is an antique design (called ramune) that’s being revived. Back in the day, kids in Japan got into playing marbles because of the ramune soda bottles. On the page I linked to, you can click “Ramune Status” to read about how hard the stuff is to get in the U.S. I also read one comment about it on BevNet where someone said it was awful, but I haven’t tasted it.
I can get the stuff locally, but the store taht has it has a limited supply, and it is like 2 bucks a bottle also.
The store is in Chico California, called the Rice House, or somethng like that.
Next time I go there I’ll ask them where they get it.
I have two bottles of this stuff in my soda pop collection for over six years. One is empty and the other is full. I display them with my marble collection as an interesting adjunct to marble making technology. I find it highly ironic that the soda is responsible for Japanese kids getting into marbles.
