Sounds like there may be two routing tags on the box.
One Christmas season years ago, I reused a box to send presents to my Mom’s house for the various family members who were going to be there.
On Christmas Eve, the doorbell rang - it was the UPS guy with my box. I had neglected to remove the old address tag, and so it eventually routed back to me. Pulled the tag off, the UPS guy took it back to his truck, and that was the last anyone saw of that package.
You can tell the story is from long ago because it involves a delivery driver actually ringing the doorbell and also waiting to hand the package off.
Look at it this way. The delivery driver found it so comfortable, they decided to keep it on the truck for naps. That’s a great endorsement for how well it works!
USPS is always fun (if you’re not dealing with Priority Mail). I made the mistake of shipping some books via media mail last year; my package went from Freeport, Maine all the way to somewhere in Florida, bounced around Florida for a few days, then gradually made its way to North Carolina where it was deposited on my front porch minus several books.
My son had surgery Monday and he’s been recovering while I’ve been working my ass off at home, trying to regularly force fluids into him while writing an absurd number of grants. Today he decided to have a shrieking meltdown over my serving him the wrong brand of Bear Grahams. I think he’s had too much TV but we expected this because he needs to be resting, not tearing around the house.
In the area of personal growth, I’ve decided that if nobody at my agency gives a shit about grant reports, neither do I, and I’m done working at night to get reports in on time because others couldn’t be arsed to give me the info I needed until 7pm.
It is the evening of July 31st, 3rd quarter reports were due yesterday, and I still don’t have the information I requested two weeks ago. I texted Always Late to get it to me by Monday morning, because the hell if I’m going to write grant reports on the weekend. This is the first weekend I haven’t had to work in several weeks, I’ve had a long-ass week, and I’d rather submit a late report than be inconvenienced by these chucklefucks.
Oh yeah and according to my therapist’s assessment tools, the only mental health problem I officially have any more is mild anxiety. I’m even subclinical for PTSD.
I think I’m turning a corner on not letting other people’s bullshit be my problem.
I dont get pork fried rice often from down the street ( 7.25 for a pint) but when I did, I told the young man just pork and rice, no veg.
Now I tell the older woman and its as if she didnt hear me.
The added items make it less enjoyable.
'Zactly. Hooray for waking up from your common, but debilitating, state of giving more of a shit than those aorund you.
Just be sure every week your boss receives a complete list of every deadline that somebody else failed to meet. There is nothing so satisfying as throwing irritating losers under a bus.
Two Fridays ago, I was traveling on a gravel road, and a rock got kicked up into my brake. Had to replace both.
The Friday night after that, I put a jug of water on my kitchen counter so I could remember to use it later. It had been sitting on my floor for days without issue.
I woke up to this layer of water all over the counter. Now it seems to have damaged the drawers enough so that the top one sticks and the corner underneath has cracked apart. I have no idea what other damage was done or how much it’ll cost to fix. This took a single decision and less than twelve hours.
I know this is what savings are for, but it’s still depressing as hell.
