Rantlet: Two weeks of headaches

I can empathize! I am going off a med that my doc had prescribed for chronic fatigue. The med didn’t seem to help, but damn going off is killing me! Head spins and headaches going on 4 weeks now. My doc said it wasn’t uncommon and it usually lasted just a few weeks. Here’s hoping that just a few end soon!

I’m with you on the commiseration thing, Smeghead. Sometimes I think I’ve had the same fucking headache since 1965. I know very well that there are worse things, but,

…yes, it does profoundly suck.

Drug rebound headache from Excedrin.

I get a lot of headaches too (worse now while I’m pregnant which sucks because I can’t take much of anything besides acetaminophen, which is useless) but have never had much luck with Excedrin. I know you said it helps but you seem to be having some bothersome side effects.

Have you ever tried Advil Liqui-Gels? They are a MIRACLE for me. Two pills and twenty minutes later and usually I’m totally fine, even with my worst headaches. The regular brown tablets, or whatever they are, are totally useless; they have to be gelcaps and they have to be Advil brand.

I miss Advil. :frowning:

Hijack/ I used to get wicked headaches when pregnant and the only thing that worked was alternating hot and cold compresses. As hot as I could stand alternating with wet washcloths from the freezer. As soon as the hot one cooled a bit I switched it out. It was a pain, but after 20 minutes or so the headaches went away.

Sorry, I have to offer one: propranolol. I know it’s not migraines, but, for some reason, it seems to make headache medicine like Excedrine work better. Have you tried it.

And I commiserate with you, too. I don’t know how anyone can take constant headaches like that. The one week I went where I had a severe headache every day, I thought I wouldn’t survive.

It’s funny what you can get used to. When I had daily migraines I rarely missed work and my kids were small so there wasn’t much hiding in a dark room going on either. Now I take a preventative drug whose name I cannot recall for 6 months and have a couple of years of no migraines at a time but when that breakthrough migraine hits I’m useless for at least a day. The headaches aren’t any worse but I’ve lost the tolerance for pain.

Hey, thanks for the tip! I’ll have to try that next time.
