Fortunately, I avoid polite society. I know if I’d used either word when I was a kid, my mother would have whipped me with a switch.
I had a black co-worker named Arionn who referred to black guys in general as “niggas”, and to women only as “bitches”. “So me and these two niggas met up with these bitches, and then this bitch called up this other bitch on the phone. . . .” You got used to it.
This was in the same plant with white rednecks (and I’m not using that term as a pejorative; they’d freely describe themselves that way) who had grown up using the term “nigger” casually while at the same time not seeming to have any real racial prejudice. People are funny.
