My grandson talks so fast it sounds like a foreign language. His parents can understand him but I doubt anyone else can. I think he is speaking somewhat clearly as I do pick up part of what he says. Do children outgrow this at a young age?
HA! I had friends in high school that still did this.
Most kids, it’s a phase. Some it is not. Pretty normal either way, IMHO.
This will soon be replaced by the “never stop talking” phase. This phase is more efficient than merely talking fast, though the downside is having to stop for breath.
I suspect it’s just a phase. Any info on the web?
He is going into the never ending speech thing as we speak, his older sister just left that stage. My son says he has so much to say he feels like he has to say it real fast .
Be patient Grasshopper. I remember when my daughter was going through the non stop phase. I offered her a dollar if she could be quiet for 1 minute. Yep, you guessed it, about 10 seconds into it she said “Is it a minute yet?”.
One of the things I like about being a grandparent (Mrs. Gap’s son has a 3y.o. daughter) is watching as new systems come on line, so to speak. As a grandparent I have the luxury of perspective and distance. It’s fascinating to watch concepts occur to the kids and see them experiment with language and the physical world.
You nailed it. My grandson likes to follow me around in my shop but has to have his own projects going at the same time I work on mine. It is facinating to watch as they gather new concepts.
I used to work with a woman who did this. She was a pharmacist who later went to medical school, and it was just the way she was.
And I wasn’t the only person there who told her to talk more slowly literally every time she spoke to me.
