Another vote for Obama.
He has the coolest name, too.
As much as it shames me to say it, I gotta go with GW.
Him and Teddy Roosevelt.
Obama’s definitely the coolest president, but I don’t think he is the best looking. He’s a nice-looking guy, don’t get me wrong, but not the hottest president.
Obligatory Obama shirtless on the beach link: http://camelsnose.files.wordpress.com/2007/01/obama-beach-photo.jpg
Well, Wilson is still the only President to gain a PhD, so the geekiness was genuine, not faked.
Franklin Pierce, definitely. Obama always brings this guy to mind, so he’s out of the running in my mind.
Dunno who is objectively the best looking (as objective as that can be, which means not very), but for myself I’d have to say Obama. He’s not my type (unfortunately!) but he’s more my type than any other president we’ve had. I really wouldn’t call him HOT though. He’s attractive in a reserved, respectable way that I would TRY to like, but fail, like with the doctor I was dating. As much as I like slim, smooth-talking, medium-complexioned black guys, he’s too bipartisan. I like rebels.
This article says Obama is not #1. And which president is compared to Johnny Depp for gorgeousness?
I’ve always thought Lincoln had a beautiful face, but people said he was ugly and had an unpleasant voice. I wonder if I would agree if I saw him in person. Of course we see him through the distance of history: to the people who knew him, he was just the dorky guy down the hall.
I know how I’m opening my next history essay!
I’ll jump on the Obama bandwagon, though I gotta say some of these presidents in their younger years were pretty smokin’. (Also, not a president, but I’d totally do Rahm Emmanuel.)
The problem with the earliest presidents is that we’re only seeing their painted portraits, which are of course going to be flattering. Some of those guys probably had smallpox scars and horrible teeth, among other things, in real life.
And I think there was something in Newsweek about how the presidents (and other figures) that appear on bills have been getting digital “facelifts” when being put on new money. I actually found it pretty amusing.
In my link, Polk looks like a cross between Ralph Fiennes and a very young Mel Gibson. Hmmm!
This article is the funniest thing I have read in a long time.
I died.
Thank you so much.
Another vote for Woodrow. Behind those glasses, there’s a man. (John F.) Kennedy always reminds me of Howdy Doody, or Goofy, or something like that, though. Don’t tell my mom that, though - Kennedy is GAWD to her.
He conquered fear and he conquered hate, he turned our night into day…
Others are saying Timothy Hutton and Johnny Depp, but I’m seeing a resemblance between Franklin Pierce and Tommy Lee Jones.
George Washington. If you can father a country, you can father my baby*.
Then probably TR. He was everything right and good about being a man’s man, and none of the asshole stuff that often comes with man’s man-ness.

Lincoln was immensely charismatic. Even considering the unique political situation during the 1860 election, Lincoln’s move from obscurity to the presidency is still pretty remarkable. Part of the reason he was able to do that was that people just plain liked him.
Who was the richest. With men, the richest is the hottest.
I would say Christine Beauchamp (President of Victoria’s Secret then Ann Taylor Stores [Yep, two terms!] and an American) is easy on the eyes, moreso than most mentioned so far.
