Rate you usage of salt, pepper, sugar, butter as toppings. In average restaurant visit

Min breaks down by meals

breakfast butter on toast
lunch salt and pepper on salad
dinner butter on mashed potatoes.

I never add sugar or substitutes. Not a diet, just no sweet tooth

1 salt 0 (there’s always plenty of salt in restaurant food. Why add more?)
2 pepper (fresh ground: 70, flavorless black powder from a shaker*: 2)
3 sugar 0 (never eat anything that requires it)
4 butter – (on breads: 100, on anything else: 0)

*In many restaurants, the pepper on the table is a crime against cooking.

Salt = 0
Pepper = 90 (salads, potatoes, meats, vegetables)
Sugar = 10 (ice tea or coffee only)
Butter = 25 (potatoes and bread)

Side Note: If there are whole (pre-ground) peppers available, I have been know to pop a couple in my mouth and savor the flavor.

Otherwise known as peppercorns.

1 salt 1 - eggs only.
2 pepper 1 - eggs only, and sometimes I’ll use hot sauce* instead of S&P.
3 sugar 0 - can’t think of anything I’d use this as a topping on, and I prefer my coffee and tea unsweetened.
4 butter 99 - it’s only on the table when something is to be buttered, and I will almost always use it (and ask for more if I’m feeling bold), unless there’s also the option to use olive oil.*

  • I hope I didn’t offend anyone’s sensibilities by mentioning other “toppings,” but they seemed relevant.

1 salt 95
2 pepper 10
3 sugar 0
4 butter 5

I love salt.

1 salt 0
2 pepper 20
3 sugar 0
4 butter 80

Restaurant food is usually salty enough, pepper is great but only on certain things, I don’t eat sugar, and I put butter on everything possible.

Umm…right.

salt 0
pepper 75
sugar 0
butter 25

Ms Hook and I haven’t put salt on anything since the early 80s.

1 salt 0
2 pepper 5
3 sugar 5 (for when I want hot tea and it’s available)
4 butter 10 (on the other hand, if it’s margarine, I just eat my roll without topping. I too do not experience butter as a common condiment, otherwise I’d use it around 50% of the time. )

My father-in-law owned a family dairy farm and his motto was “Everything is better with butter, except watermelon” But then he would salt watermelon, so don’t go by him!

1 salt: 10000

2 pepper: 10

3 sugar: 0

4 butter: depends on what I get…I’m gonna say 20 tho cuz I like baked potatoes.

Salt is so high because I just don’t eat salt…I LOAD salt on pretty much everything.

1 salt 95
2 pepper 0
3 sugar 5
4 butter 10

Some things don’t need salt. However, everything else is almost certainly not salty enough for my taste. And I don’t want sea salt, either, I want good old table salt.

I have IBD, and if I eat black pepper, I WILL suffer the consequences for the next three days. I know of at least three other people who have the same complaint, and one person who might have a problem with it…she just realized that she has digestive problems every time she eats black pepper.

I usually drink water when I eat out, and the only thing that I’d use sugar for is coffee or tea.

I only use butter when I’m eating something that requires butter, such as toast or rolls.

Depends of course on the specific meal, but averaged over my actual meal choices for a month or more, something about like:

pepper 90 and lots of it
salt 80 but not much of it
butter 5
sugar (and fake alternatives) 0
