Re-delurking

Well, after reading all the post on board etiquette and such, I thought I’d take a minute to de-lurk…again. It’s been about 6 months since the last time I posted and my post count is pretty low so most of you probably don’t know me or remember me. I look forward to getting to know all of you!

A bit of info about me…

I live in Oklahoma. Anyone else in OK?

I’m 5 1/2 months pregnant after 3 years of trying. Good thing: lotsa good lovin’ from Mr. Doughnut. Bad thing: fertility drugs suck! BTW, this is a little Miracle Baby: no drugs. What am I saying…all babies are miracles, huh?

I’m a high school French teacher at the 3rd largest hs in the US. You know the school in OK that took “God Bless America” off it’s marquis? That was my school. UGH!

Well, that’s all I can think of for now. I felt I should intro myself before I respond to other people’s threads. That way, people don’t say, “Who the heck is this person?!”

So, happy posting!
mmm…

If for nothing else, you should get “mad props” on your Username. Very nice. And yummy, and sticky and…[sub][sup]nevermind…

Welcome to the SDMB!! [sub]again…[/sub]

I’m fairly new here as well, so if you need some help…ask someone else!

I’m ultrafilter, rush chairman, and I’m damn glad to meet ya.

GUSH What a response. Ya’ll must know that I’m just sitting here, waiting to read every little post that comes in. Pretty pathetic for a Saturday night, huh? But thanks so much for the replies, really.

I also forgot to add that I have 2 kitties: Winston and Otis.

For Halloween, we go to a theme party every year. This year’s theme is Superheroes and Supervillains. Mr. Doughnut will be G.I. Joe and (since she and Joe go together) I will be “Knocked Up Barbie.” I know she’s no superheroine but how many pg superheroines are there? Not many!

mmm…

Don’t feel bad at all mmm… forbidden doughnut. I was the same way with my first thread…wait! I’m still like that! Fun isn’t it?

Why, yes.

I’m in Stillwater. sewalk, don Jaime, and Ginko are in OKC and grendel72 is in Tulsa. I believe redtail23 is a fellow Oklahoman, but I’m not positive.

Welcome to the boards!

Wow… I marvel at your username. It is the epitome of shibby. I’ve been thinking for a while that I should change my UN to yoink-dot-adios-backslash-losers. Or yoink.adios\loser. Something. But that would be…weird?

Welcome back from lurking mode! Here here, have a glass of wine. I hear it calms your nerves. I don’t drink (publically at least ;)) because I’m only 14. I will occasionally serve drinks to other people though. I could be a Straight Dope waitress.

Excuse my ramblings though. It’s great here isn’t it? It’s addictive. Just like coke. Until they took out the cocaine of course.

Oh and like Searching for Truth said, you will get compliments on your name. It’s fantabulous. Doughnuts…Mmmm…I yearn, I pine, I drool…

Ok I’ll be off now. So um…Welcome again. Good to have you de-lurked.

Hey, MFD

I’m kinda returning from hiatus myself, so I figure I’d at least like to make an entrance WITH someone… clock me up as one more fan of anything Simpsons-inspired.

Lady Juliet: Heh! You weren’t even thought of when they took the cocaine out of Coke! Ahhh, they don’t make drugs-infused soft drinks like they used to… [/old geezer]

Je suis curieuse…how large is your HS? I would think that mine could be a definite contender, but I don’t know exactly how many people attend.

Fellow Oklahoman, fellow lurker checking in. Anyone who has the patience to teach high school students AND appreciates The Simpsons is OK by me. Arden Ranger, we must remember mmm… forbidden doughnut when planning the next OklaDope.

ooh! kitties! you have kitties! you are now automatically on my list of Nice Dopers[sup]TM[/sup]!

hello, and welcome (back?)!

Ummmm…what does this mean? Is it a good thing?

Cool! I’m in Tulsa, too!

Well, I don’t drink either because of my, um, delicate condition. Perhaps I shall partake in March!

You know, the funny thing is, I’m not a big doughnut fan. I just love the episode of the Simpsons where Homer sells his soul for a doughnut. BTW, Satan is his next-door neighbor who graduated from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, where I live. Very funny.

Well, we have 3 campuses with a total of 5000 students. And, really, we need a fourth campus. It’s rather out of control.

YES, do!

I apologize if I’m not doing the quote thingie right. How do I make it say “originally posted by Arden Ranger?” UGH! Newbies! And to all who welcomed me, THANKS!
mmm…

Once upon a time, many years ago, I wanted to be a high school French teacher. But in those days (early 70s) our school system was overrun with foreign language teachers and I didn’t want to get a degree that would leave me unemployed. So I dropped out of college and joined the Navy. Then I became an engineer. But I remembered enough French to get around in Paris on 2 trips there, and I was able to help my daughter with her homework. Not that you asked or that anyone even cares…

Anyway, welcome back! Voici la plume de ma tante!

FairyChatMom, it’s never too late! Nowadays, it’s a real shortage area. For instance, it will be very difficult to find someone to cover my maternity leave in the Spring. And, as I am not returning in the Fall, they’ll start looking for a replacement as soon as we return from holidays in January. So, bonne chance!

mmm…

I was thinking we should have another OklaDope next month, actually. Verrain is planning on coming into town for a visit. But it will be in Stillwater, since that’s where we’ll likely be staying for the weekend and it’s a nice halfway between OKC and Tulsa. Right now we’re thinking the weekend of 11/17. Joe’s again? Though we could try one of the other Joes; Mexico Joes or Joesepi’s or maybe Stillwater Bay.

Use the Quote button at the bottom of the post you’re quoting. Or just type it in yourself.

Certainly in quality… I wasn’t impressed with either of my daughter’s French teachers. Two years, all A’s, and she can’t speak for nuttin’!! [geezer mode]Back in myday, after the first couple of weeks, you weren’t allowed to speak English in either French or Spanish class…[/geezer mode] I figure when I retire from my cushy civil service job, I may seek credentials and teach on occasion… or not… I’ve got time to decide…
