Re. robocalls; someone must have studied what pissed off voters do

They must do focus groups and meta studies on the impact of robo-calls.

They cannot help but piss off a lot of potential voters.

As you said, they must have studied it. And yet they still do it. Therefore…

They both do it. Therefore…

Yes, and that’s why often they do the anti-robocall, where the Smith campaign will say, “I’m calling with information about Candidate Jones. Did you know that she supports sex with dead mules and voted to cut funding for homeless kittens?”

If you’re a mouth-breather who actually listens to robo-calls, you just heard an attack ad against Jones, and probably believe it. If you’re a normal person who slams down the phone in disgust, all you heard was the first sentence, and you assume Jones was placing the call and hate her for it.

What SUPER pisses me off is, the pols who pass the laws exempt themselves (and thus, these robocalls) from the do-not-call-list laws. Grrrr!

Given that they probably studied it using telephone polling…

@Freddy The Pig - Your reactions are slow. I can slam down* a robo-call in 3 words or less.

*I really do miss the old phones with a handset that you could actually slam down. Now, it is a pathetic plink on a button… just not the same satisfaction. But, I can plink as fast as the best of them.

I wonder if anyone has tried to make calls “on behalf of” their opponent. If it really does piss people off, seems like that would be an effective way to turn voters to you.

Yes, they have.

And the freaking Reform Party (I refuse to call them Conservative Party, because they simply stole the name) refuses to investigate and is stonewalling any action. If they ignore it long enough it will go away.

Scum.

I couldn’t believe the robocall I got the other day: “Hi, this is Callista Gingrich and I wanted to personally call you to let you know about…”

So she was personally calling me, with a robocall?

“…the important election for your hu-mon President… I mean, for President, coming up on Tuesday, November 6…”

Chrissake, I just got robo-polled. That’s worse because I don’t even know which side to get pissed off at.
