My grandmother looked 40 at 60. Looked 60 at 80. Heavy drinker, heavy smoker, heavy sunbather. Awesome genes. Died at 83 from lung cancer and an embolism (the embolism got her, but the cancer was running a close second). No “work” done, but one of those great bone structures.
(Christie Brinkley locks herself in a glass coffin every night to keep from aging. In earlier times she’d have been burned at the stake. THAT isn’t normal - with or without “work”)
Really? You are that shallow? You lived amongst beauty all your life and nobody you know looks old? Must be pretty special to be you. I hope your gaze never falls on an old woman who looks it. Especially in a mirror. Wouldn’t want you to harm yourself.
I don’t understand. Sig Weaver looks normal for her age, unless the new definition for her age is morbidly obese, missing half her teeth and lung cancer. It seems **Lurker **is saying that staying is shape, eating healthy, exercising and looking your age is fine.
Are you saying Sig sets some unrealistic standard of beauty?
Well, his hair is a hair piece, so not sure it can be pulled back tight to match the pulled-back face look. But it’s just one more thing that stars do to manipulate their looks.
I still think aging gracefully and do little to nothing (other than taking care of one’s self) offers the best odds of looking good as time marches on.
But their are psychological and social reasons people (such as the women offered up in the OP) do what they do with plastic and cosmetic surgeries. Their reality, which exists in their head, is not fully relatable to others.
You want full lips back, so you have cognitive dissonance to whether they look better. You can get fuller lips with collagen. You go to get the injections. You have fuller lips. Fuller lips are better (right?). You have fuller lips. You get oogled at by men and confirmation bias kicks in.
Right, it’s basically a no win situation for them, other than the lucky few who have amazing genes and still look great at whatever age. I was just pointing out that the OP is basically both saying “why would someone get plastic surgery and look weird?” and “these people who didn’t get plastic surgery look terrible”.
Being a celebrity comes with some serious downsides. What we can glean from some of this isn’t all that surprising: People have high expectations for you, Mr/Mrs Celeb, and whether your rough lifestyle, poor genetics or misguided surgeries or injections lead to some negative consequences in the ol’ looks department, which we choose to cling to, then we’re gonna let it be known. - John/Jane Q. I know it’s hard to shed tears for millionaires, but this affects normal people too. When people online are saying how bad that celebrities look just because they’ve aged or gained a little weight or something else, the celebrities won’t might not read it, but other average people will. They’ll think “people are saying that Jane Celebrity looks bad, but I think she looks better than me, so do people think I look hideous?”
