I saw it and wasn’t that impressed. I felt that everyone was trying way too hard. Trying too hard to be cute, trying too hard to have relationships, trying too hard to bond with the “girl”. Trying too hard to see a breakthrough.
Anybody else?

I wasn’t aware of the existence of this spin-off. At first, I’d’ve guessed it was a group of lesbians trying to convince a straight woman of the merits of birkenstocks and overalls.
I caught part of the sneak preview on Tuesday night and watched the official premier last night. Though there were some alright moments, the Fab Four have nowhere near the chemistry of the original show’s cast, and most of what they did together seemed forced, like goofing off with the woman’s stuff at the start.
I found it insulting that they asked her how long it had been since she’d had sex. I can’t recall that ever happening on QEFSG, even the guys who were single.
I actually recall that being asked on a few different occasions. I recall with one geeky guy they asked, they brought it up like every five minutes (real time).
I got this impression merely from the promos–everyone coming on way too strong with the Personality (wacky! naughty! fussy! )
I went to college with Robbie, and I can attest that he is exactly like that in real life. In fact, he even seemed a mite bit restrained.
I also felt rather sorry for the token lesbian (at least that was what she seemed). I kept getting the feeling that she felt like the classic line of a bicycle for a fish which is ironic when you think about it.
I’ve never seen the original; but I’ve always had the impression that the point of the show was to take some poor slob and harness the gynofriendly habits of your stereotypical gay man to make the poor slob into someone women would actually like.
With that in mind, I was a bit perplexed by the idea that the best arbiters of what makes a woman a straight man’s dream are some gay men and a lesbian.
Welcome to the last two hundred years of couture.
Cute.
All I can say for the GAL PALS (their license plate) was they make Carson of the original series look butch.
I thought it sucked. badly.
But then, I’m neither a gay man, a lesbian or straight woman, so maybe this thing wasn’t built for me.
I watched it last night and tonight and, yeah, I wasn’t impressed, either. I didn’t think it was awful, it was just boring. Whatever it is that’s appealing about the original QE is missing here.
[hijack]But the original seems kind of over, too, y’know? The first season was fun because the straight guys didn’t know what to expect and went through the whole episode with a deer-in-the-headlights kind of look. But the second season guys knew what they were in for and everything fell into a predictable rhythm. And flat-screen TVs for everyone! (And taking it off the air for two months didn’t help, either. It didn’t take long for me to forget it even existed.) Oh well, I’ll try to remember to watch it Tuesday and see if the football halftime proposal goes over or goes awry. That could be interesting (we haven’t seen a QE proposal turned down yet).[/hijack]
