Also, when Harry finally opens the package, it’s a two way mirror, with a note from Sirius saying if he needed to talk to him, just use the mirror. He tries to talk to Sirius, realizes he can’t, and smashes the mirror. It seems to me he smashes it out of frustration and guilt.
IMHO, Book 5 is about Harry screwing up big time–he got scammed by V and got his godfather killed. He put a bunch of students and Order members in serious danger. It is his fault and he now rightly has a huge burden of guilt. He had a bunch of chances not to screw-up, including the 2-way mirror, but screwed-up nonetheless.
The next book will deal with a humbled Harry trying to pick himself up and go on again–like real-life people do.
Seriously, why the spoiler boxes on page 2 of a thread with “Spoiler” in the title?
Everyone else was doing it, so I thought I’d do put up a spoiler box in case someone complained about spoilerage. In the other harry potter thread, there are no spoiler boxes, so I didn’t bother.
Yep, that’s why I used the spoiler boxes too. I admit it - I conformed!
