I’m just using a regular PC, the same one I’ve had for several years now. Almost always IE. Cookies cleared regularly and all that. But for me too, it just started happening in recent months.

Just spitballing and assuming that you’ve been through all the routine troubleshooting of the fundamental elements (bbs, server cookies, database)… has anyone looked at the database to ensure that everything is using the same default character set / collation? There are setting in the DBMS itself, the bbs code, and your HTTP server. Character sets (e.g. UTF8, Unicode, Latin1) overlap for a great deal of the time, but then when they don’t you could be getting these screwy activities. Places you’d find settings include are httpd.conf, php.ini, my.conf, etc. Look for charset, character set, collation commands.

It’s happening all the damn time now. I’m getting it multiple times per day. It’s incredibly irritating. It’d be lovely if someone with the power to do something about it actually gave enough of a shit to lift a finger.

Did anything with the Board change a few months ago? This seems to have started all of a sudden, at least with this sort of regularity.

Yesterday and today it’s happened to me every single time I log on. For the past two weeks it never happened once. Very weird and IRRITATING.
It happened to me yesterday for the first time (that I can recall).
And again. Now it is happening every single time I log on. This is very annoying, but I suspect if anything could be done about it, it would have been done by now. We’ll just have to live with it.
It just happened twice in the last 20 minutes. Also, the first time it’s happened at a time other than just after logging in.
It happened to me again, of course. Usually it teases me, like this time – doesn’t mark everything as read until I’ve looked at a thread or two and then become confident it’s not going to happen. Then Wham!
Now see, for this log-in, it didn’t happen. Everything went like it was supposed to, the first time in the last several log-ins. There must be some way to pin down why it happens when it does.
A new and intersting variation occurred. I’ve been logged on for an hour or two, and all went well today … until about the time the Board changed over to the Peeps theme for April Fool’s Day. Almost exactly, maybe exactly exactly, at that moment, everything I’d not bothered to read here yet was suddenly switched to “Read.” Hmmm. :dubious:
And after a few days of lulling me into a false sense of security, it hit me again.
