I just got home a little while ago, and suffice it to say, it’s been a rather hectic day. They just released non-mission essential personell and gave us reporting times and areas for tommorow.
I thought that maybe you guys would like a little news from the military side. I know during tradegy we like to remain informed, and that gives us some comfort. Here’s what I can tell you that’s not classified information.
The Air Force and other military branches have gone to what’s called, Force Protection Condition Delta (FPCON Delta). This means that we are mobilized and prepared for any further strike, and ready to assist and provide aid where needed. I spent most of my day setting up guard positions and loading medical supplies to be transported if they’re nessecary. I’ve also been on guard duty at specific sensitive areas, and have given as much blood as they’ll take from me.
As far as I can tell, we are prepared. Everything is on lock down, and Air Mobility Command and Air Combat are on stand-by.
On a personal note, I’m a little freaked out because I was supposed to be at the Pentagon this week. I work almost directly for the Secretary of the Air Force and the Under Secretary of Defense… the office I probably would have been in is extrememly close to the crash site. ((5th corridor, A ring, bottom floor))
To any extent, I want you all to know that my brothers in arms here and I all share the same sentiment. We are ready and eager to help, and I promise you that we will do everything we can, whether directly or indirectly to exact revenge on whoever was responsible. My country… our country… is not to be messed with.
Just my little bit of news. My prayers go out to all of you, and to all the victims and their loved ones. They remain constantly in my thoughts. As do you.
Please take care and God bless,
A1C Watkins Stephen K
Stephen, hon, there are few people in this world I trust, and you’re way up on that short list. I have no doubt that you will do exactly as you say, that it will be done well and with all the capability of your great heart. May you and your brothers be safe… I expect to see you at my housewarming party, and I don’t take rejection lightly.
Stephen-
We are lucky to have people like you to keep us safe and free.
I don’t know what else to say. God bless all of our service people and keep them all safe.
Thanks for the good thoughts guys. I really appreciate it. I think they’d be better directed at those who need them much more than I do.
Well, it’s back to work as usual, or as much as usual as can be. They’ve downgraded our alert to FPCON Charlie which means no more guarding as an “auggie doggie” ((Augmented Security Forces)) for me. Back to my computer, and back to be being a programmer. We’re still on alert, and Air Mobility is still ready to go, but it’s just waiting for orders at this point.
I, like everyone else I know, am just waiting and wishing I could do more. They won’t take any more blood from me, and there’s nothing else I can do to prepare. I can’t even work in my office, considering my customer’s office is now just a pile of bricks. Luckily, everyone that I work for there is okay… a few bumps and bruises, but nothing serious. I guess it’s lucky that they were on the A ring.
My thoughts continue to go out to all, and to you. We’re still ready to go… just give us some guns, and point us in the right direction. “Right” being the operative word.
