Real true store names I drove by today

There’s a place nearby called Caskets N’ More. It sounds a bit more festive than it should…

There a salon around here called Notorious.

I guess they were going for a devilishly charming sort of vibe, but still…

Be worried if it also sells balloons and party streamers.

Going up Highway 6 towards Owen Sound, you come to the town of Flesherton, located on the Beaver River. At the entrance to town, there are big signs:

Welcome to Flesherton
Gateway to the Beaver Valley

Maybe they serve some … stakes?

I’d almost forgotten this, but there’s a horrid little tourist trinket shop on Rte. 30, near the outlets, called “Amish Stuff”. Sounds really authentic, doesn’t it?

In Port Royal, there’s a tatoo shop called Yes, it hurts.

There used to be a place in Raleigh named RB’s Supreme Broasted Chicken and Concrete Contractor. They sold chicken cooked in some kind of pressure cooker arrangement AND they did concrete work. You had to walk through a construction yard to get the the chicken take out area. Also in Raleigh was Fat Daddy’s Record Shack and Rib Crib.

Just around the corner from me is Carpet One. It used to be Linoleum Dick’s, and I really regret the change.

There’s also a Chinese restaurant somewhere around here named Ho Chow. After all, Ho gotta eat too.

The Texas highway department puts up official green reflective highway signs indicating facilities and amenities available at upcoming exits, including names of restaurants like Denny’s, McDonalds, and so on. Mostly national chains, though on the southbound highway between Austin and San Antonio, there is a touch of local color:

Karla’s
Kountry
Kitchen

Here in Edmonton there is a Asian Restaurant called “Chin Kee Chinese Food”. It has been around for years.

FML

Just up the street: Doggie Styles (pet grooming)

Caskets n’ more (caskets and…what else?)

Between Ada and Atoka OK. is the Seeing Double liquor store

And here I thought there was only 1 doggie style

A tree chopping business “Tree Wise Men”.

There’s a Chinese restaurant on 82nd here in Portland that’s called (no joke) Hung Far Low. I have a feeling that it may be a front for a porn place.

we also had a Linoleum Dick’s… it was somewhere not far south of San Francisco.
Vallejo, CA: “Superior Erections” your Rent-A-Crane company… I think
Berkeley, CA: “King Dong” a Chinese restaurant

it’s been a while since I was in Austin TX, but I recall LOTS of Punny Firm Names were there.

There’s a plumbing contractor in Roanoke known as Turd Busters.

Who could forget LA’s Pink Taco? Right outside Beverly Hills.

Holy crap! Uh, I mean, wow.

There’s a chain of Chinese fast food places in the Toronto area called Ho Lee Chow.
