really crappy songs you like (guilty pleasures?)

I seriously enjoy “We Like the Party” by the Vengaboys. I also love every song from “South Pacific.”
I second “Safety Dance.”

I like Dr. demento’s Star Trekkin’. It is fun to tease my husband about his trek fetish. I also like Whitney houston’s “I wanna dance with somebody”. Then anything by Lisa Loeb and Jewel. I’m a sap, I can’t help it.

I love 99 Luftballons!!

I also like

Jenny/867-5309 by Tommy Tutone
When Doves Cry by Prince

The Harderst Part of Breaking Up(is getting back your stuff), by 2gether, the MTV made boy band. Love their show too, its hilarious.

That’s all I can think of for now.

“I’m Too Sexy” by ‘Right Said Fred’ used to crack me up.
I actually have the tape!
(I just went and looked for it and couldn’t find it. Maybe the dog buried it.)

I also like Leon Redbone. You decide.

I’m a DJ on the campus radio station, and my co-host and I once cleared the student center by playing the Spanish version of “Hey Mickey”. Mwahahahahahah. I still don’t like the song, but I’ve felt a little friendlier towards it since that night.

<big gasp> The MONKEES are NOT total crap.

But if you’re going to include 'em on really crappy guilty pleasures, then mine are…

Almost any Monkees song- The Theme Song, Daydream Believer, I’m a Believer, Last Train to Clarksville, Heart and Soul, Words, Valleri, That Was Then, This is Now…

Tainted Love (Soft Cell)- though everyone calls this a guilty pleasure, I don’t see how it is, actually.

I rather liked Baby one more time, and Crazy. And I get a bit nostalgic when I hear older N Sync and Backstreet boy songs…I Want You Back…Everybody…ugh…

I have an Aqua CD (Aquarium)- yep, the “Barbie Girl” band- i also like Happy Boys and Girls, Candyman, and other assorted songs off of it, that’s a definite guilt trip, man.

Got You Where I Want You- that 98/99 song by the Flys.

That’s all for now!

<gasp!>
Got You Where I Want You is NOT a guilty pleasure!

I saw the Flys in concert when 98 became 99. Verrrry cool. Creed was the headliner, but the Flys were more amusing.

Borderline, by Madonna. Simplistic beat, cliched words, lousy singing voice.
What could be better?

I love Rico Suave!! Rico…suaaave…
“I Think We’re Alone Now” by Tiffany
“Take On Me” by A-Ha
and for you techno heads, “The Launch”. I HATE techno and trance type music, but that song kinda grew on me after a while.

I learned to do the Macarena onstage at Knocker’s Lounge in South Bend, Indiana.

I think “The Night Chicago Died” is a great song.

can’t remember the exact title of this one…

“Rocky, I never had to die before, but I think that I can do it
If you let me lean on you, take my hand and help me through it”
The ultimate sap, I love it. Who did it?

That’s “Rocky” by Austin Roberts. Goes well with “Honey” by Bobby Goldsboro. Nothing like dead wives to make a hit song.

I also wanted to mention “Hitchin’ a Ride” by Vanity Fare. Dumb lyrics, great bass line.

I love Video Killed the Radio Star. I’ve got several versions downloaded… sigh.

Bumbazine! Leon Redbone, crappy?! Bite your tongue!

Needless to say, I like Leon too-- I’ve seen in in concert once per year for the last, oh, three years at least. I go with my parents, even!

I have to admit to liking “… Baby One More Time,” and my friends look at me funny when I say anything complimentary about “The Real Slim Shady.”

And I will personally beat the stuffin’ out of anyone who says it is. Liars! Take on me, Video Killed the Radio Star, and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, 99 Luftballoons? Those are fine, fine, songs that I am proud to know all the words too. (english AND German for the latter.) New Wave was instrumental in the development of electronica, techno, and triphop. And where would strung out ravers go without those musical genres?

Duran Duran, Wham!, and Loverboy are examples of 80s bands you should be ashamed of. And I even LIKE Duran Duran.

As for me, I am a HUGE Abba fan. Among my punk and alternative CDs, what I refer to as the “Angry White Boy” collection, is a beloved copy of Abba Gold. I used to own More Abba Gold, but it was stolen. I kid you not.

Musicals. Almost any of them. I take that back, Andrew Lloyd Webber annoys me.

And…disco. It’s true. I love disco. You can’t drag me off the dance floor if I Will Survive is on.

Oh hell … I can’t believe I’m admitting this and I swear it’s all my mother’s fault, but I’m rather partial to Neil Diamond. Especially “Cracklin’ Rosie.” Anybody who would write an anthem to a bottle of cheap wine can’t be all bad.

I also like songs that give me a chance to practice my fake British accent, e.g. “Ferry Cross the Mersey” and “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter.”

:: slinks off in shame ::

Desole…didn’t mean it like that!

Also…basically any Madonna song. I love Material Girl. Oh and the Venga Boys- Boom Boom Boom.

In english class the other day, our teacher mentioned how she (somewhat sheepishly) really liked the song Who Let the Dogs Out- now there’s a guilty pleasure. And I kind of like it too…

Swiddles, I think I love you.

'80s music all the way!!!
::fluffs hair, tight-rolls jeans, puts on ruffly socks and heeled pumps::

I have 2 80’s New Wave compliation CDs. My dad can’t understand why I love it so much.

Such a pity people don’t understand.

I also love “You Spin Me( Like a Record)” by Dead or Alive. Now that’s classic 80s New Wave

Another good guilty pleasure…
