I was listening to The Don & Mike Show on my way home from work today & Don had a riff about how his wife Freida got pissed at him because he was watching Casino on cable while she wanted to watch Sex In The City. She pointed out that Don alread yahd Casino on DVD, there fore he could watch it anytime, so why did he have to watch it when it came on cable.
He gave some semi-lame excuse about it looking better, etc., which leads to my question.
If you own a certain move on video/dvd, will you still watch it if it comes on cable? Not basic cable but HBO, ie; with the dirty stuff intact.
Yes, I’ve had this same argument before. Sometimes with myself.
It’s a different feeling when your favorite movie just happens to show up on TV. You didn’t have to get up and put it in the DVD/VHS player, you weren’t expecting it, you weren’t thinking “Hey, I’m going to watch this movie right now and enjoy it.” It’s a happy little accident.
I don’t know why I was compelled to share, but there you go.

If I like a movie enough to buy it, then chances are pretty good that its going to be the best thing (to me) on TV at the time. I only buy movies that I think I’ll enjoy watching over and over.
I agree… there is something about suddenly finding one of your favorite movies on cable, especially on a pay channel when nothing is cut out of it (like Casino would be if it was on USA or FX). It’s better than sitting down and deciding “Okay, I’m going to watch Casino tonight on DVD”.
I’ve actually gotten annoyed when I check the guide and realize that I’ve missed the first ten minutes of a favorite movie - even though I have it on tape. The irony of this is that it usually happens when I’m just putting the TV on for background noise while I’m working on a project, and I usually end up watching the movie more than I work.
