Of course, the existence of West Virginia is totally unconstitutional. Funny how Virginia never tried to get it back once they returned to the union. It’s almost like they didn’t want it back or something.
Hey, just cause Virginia was a group of murderous traitors that liked slaving folks (or was dependant on an agricultural economic base, depending on who you speak to), doesn’t mean that West Virginians were. Virginia decided to remove themselves from the Union. West Virginians didn’t.
Besides, when Virginia came crawling back to the Union after loosing the Civil War, they were lucky that WV didn’t insist that they be called <b>EAST</b> Virginia.
(Seriously, given the number of times that I’ve explained that the capital of my state is <i>not</i> Richmond, I can’t believe that Virginia actively promotes it’s western area as “Western Virginia”. I’ve even seen them using the same look and feel of West Virginia’s tourism campaign.)
