Recall and sum up "Ringworld Throne" for me (unboxed spoilers)

I’m reading Ringworld’s Children right now. It takes up right where Ringworld Throne left off. Although I read the latter novel years ago, it was major suck and I successfully blocked it out of my mind and have forgotten nearly all of it. Now, however, it would useful to recollect a few key elements to help my reading of the current novel. Which by the way is a bit better, IMO, than the last one - I like protectors racing about and doing unintelligibly brilliant things while we breeders gape and try to understand it all.

Could someone in the know do a sort of bullet-point list touching on the major plot points of Throne? I have a vague recollection of the Fringe War at the end and of some protectors duking it out, and that’s about it. Help?

Seems to me that you nailed it right there.

I had the same problem when I read RC. There seemed to be a discontinuity between the two books where the fringe war wasn’t really adequately explained. But that may have been because I too blocked as much of it out of my mind as possible.
