Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? would have been a lot edgier if they had cast Yaphet Kotto.
Or with Samuel L. Jackson - “I’m tired of all these snakes on this dinner table.”
I’d recast Kirsten Dunst in all of Reese Witherspoon’s parts.
There Can Be Only One!
Breakfast at Tiffany’s with Marilyn Monroe.
Road to Perdition with Bruce Willis rather than Tom Hanks.
In Sky Captain and he World of Tomorrow, I would cast someone other than Gwyneth Paltrow as Polly. I haven’t thought of a great choice for the role yet; the best I’ve got so far is Mary-Louise Parker. Hollywood being what it is, they wouldn’t allow two brunettes in the same movie, so we’d have to recast Franky as well.
Richard Burton as Arthur in “Camelot”
Vincent Price as Captain Hook in “Hook” instead of Dustin Hoffman
Cary Grant instead of James Mason in the Judy Garland “A Star is Born” (they wanted him but he didn’t
want a second billing role).
James Cagney said that he always wished veteran character actor Frank McHugh had been cast as one of his fellow prisoners in “White Heat”. McHugh would have done more in the scene where he is giving a censored letter from his wife.
Coppola wanted Cagney for Godfather II but the dirty rat was enjoying life on his farm too much to take the role. So he settled for Lee Strasberg, who showed how he ruined a whole generation of actors with his method.
I’d recast Reese Witherspoon in all of Kirsten Dunst’s parts. Can’t stand the woman.
Amanda Peet in all of Jennifer Anniston’s roles because I’d like to see Amanda on screen more often and she’s a better actor.
James Franco as Anakin Skywalker in the Ep. 2 and 3.
No knock of Christensen in general, I just think Franco has both the edge and the charisma that was needed.
Angela Basset as Storm in the X-men movies.
I thought Tim Roth would have made a better Green Goblin than Willem Dafoe.
