Recasting a Movie

Some - ok many - of you think Andie MacDowell was awful in '3 Weddings and a Funeral". Who would you cast in the part?
Other recastings you’d like to suggest?
I always thought Doris Day should have played the female lead in “South Pacific”. Not sure who I would replace Natalie Wood with in “West Side Story”. But somebody else, please.
Peter Dinklage would have made a great Frodo (though I doubt he would have taken the part; Elijah Wood did the best he could with the material he was given)

I would have re-titled the movie as Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Nick Nolte as Han Solo

Supposedly Sean Connery was offered Morpheus in The Matrix. That would have been a hoot. Just run through the rabbit hole speech in your head with a Connery accent. Especially when you picture first choice Will Smith in place of Keanu.

Animatronic Kittens for all the characters in The Godfather.

That part was *made *for Julia Roberts (not meant literally, BTW). As was Android McDull’s role in Green Card.

Leave the gun, take the catnip.

Imagine WSS with both Rita Moreno and Chita Rivera.

Julian Sands as Lestate in Interview with a Vampire and Queen of the Damned.

Kevin Costner’s post-apocolyptic opus, The Postman, would have been better if the title character was played by John Ratzenberger.

I suggest that all Mel Gibson’s scenes in all movies should be re-shot with Kevin Costner. I always felt they were kind of interchangeable. Similarly bland, forgettable actors, but (as far as I know) Costner isn’t a crazed, bigoted a-hole. Also, he could probably use the work. (didn’t notice that the previous post to this was also about Costner until I hit submit. Spooky.)

If we can add TV, I’d cast Bruce Lee as Caine in Kung Fu. (He really wanted that part.)

LISA SIMPSON: sigh . . . Poor Kevin Costner . . . He tries so hard . . .

Since Alan Ladd was notoriously short of stature, perhaps Dinklage could be persuaded to be in on a remake of Shane.

Just..no. Leaving aside the physical proportionality, Dinklage just is not going to be convincing as an innocent, which Frodo essentially is. Dinklage does great at serious & silent, and great at comedy. I’d love to see him do a comedy film as the lead.

I would like to see* Dirty Harry *with Frank Sinatra in the role as originally planned. I’d also like to see just about every other non-Western Clint Eastwood ever made withTim Thomerson in the lead role.

Although Tim Curry was great, I’d love to see Hugh Laurie as Frank N. Furter in Rocky Horror.

In Highlander, replace frenchman Christopher Lambert with Tommy Flanagan.

Half the Sidney Poitier movies fifty years ago - how about letting some other Black guys act, too?

There was a point when Tom Hanks was interested in playing the role.
