I got the Orange Box at a GameStop on a whim (well I’d gotten a new computer), and it turned out that they hadn’t given me the serial number I needed to actually play! Thus, I had to return the game and exchange it for another copy, but it turned out that it was that store’s last copy. I ended up going to a different GameStop and finally got it done.
$30 is an incredible bargain for the set. It’d be worth it for Team Fortress 2 by itself, which is the only thing I’ve played so far. It’s pretty intimidating, having Half Life 2, Episode One, Episode Two, and Portal yet to come, but it’s the best type of intimidating.
I’ve heard bad things about MW2 from some of my friends who were looking to buy the PC version. From what I’ve been reading it’s basically going to be a virtually direct port of the console version onto the PC, with only 9v9 multiplayer allowed, no dedicated servers, and random hosting. In an interview with the Infinity Ward guys, they were asked whether the PC version was going to be a console port, and they said “No, the PC version has keyboard chat, mouse enabled, and changeable graphics settings.” :smack:
I’ve never heard of Against the Odds so I clicked on the link, it’s right up my alley so I subscribed. When can I expect “The Pocket At Falaise” and my ‘Pocket Battle Game’?
It’s an underpublicized magazine in an underpublicized hobby. I found out about it when I saw an issue at a game store.
Are you aware of the similar magazines Strategy & Tactics and World at War? Both are published by Decision Games. Like Against the Odds, each magazine includes a complete game in every issue.
