I am in possession of approximately 12 boxes of Honey Almond granola cereal. It’s tasty, but takes much effort to chew. Does anyone have any recipes for cookies or maybe muffins that calls for granola cereal?
I love granola. I don’t know of any recipes per se, but I add granola to other things sort of as a topping. I eat a cup of granola every morning mixed into a cup of vanilla yogurt. I put it on ice cream for a crunchy change. I even put it on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
How did you come to have such a tasty windfall?
You can sub it in cup for cup in oatmeal cookie recipes. Pure heaven.
Okay, I hadn’t thought of that. I don’t like oatmeal cookies, but honey almond granola cookies sound much tastier.
Some friends of mine got it at the local food bank - they have a bunch of foster kids, and get tons of stuff whenever they go, and I reap the overflow. I actually had something like 20 boxes at first, but I gave some away. I’ve also got 6 boxes of frozen waffles in the deep freeze, several bags of frozen lasagna noodles, and some Mystery Cans with the labels torn off.
I second Hockey Monkey, PB and Granola sandwiches are divine. Even better, PB, honey, and granola (optional banana) in a tortilla or wrap. Yum.
When I was a kid my parents would sometimes get Quaker granola, mix it with milk, and microwave it to make a hot cereal. It was like oatmeal, but way way better.
Since you seem to like the flavor, just not the chewing…let it get mushy before you eat it.
Rather than sit around in the morning waiting for the granola to get soggy, the night before put 1 c. of the granola and 1/3 c. milk into a container with a snap on lid and stick it in the fridge. In the morning, pop off the lid and enjoy. Adjust the quantities to get the amount you want to eat and the degree of ‘wetness’ you enjoy.
Another way – eat is as a hot cereal. Be sure you are using a microwave safe bowl/lid and leave a small part of the lid ‘unsnapped.’ Nuke on high for about 90 seconds and you’ll have something that eats like oatmeal but tastes a thousand times better. (Again, tweak the quantities to suit.)
Nothing uses up cereal faster than eating it straight as cereal.
