Recommend a good pocketknife

My EDK is this Kershaw/Ken Onion Leek (14C28N stainless steel blade body and a D2 cutting edge, razor blade sharp out of the box) LOVE it!

But I’d still kill for a left handed MiniTask. :frowning:

Benchmade’s are sweet too.
I kinda know the CEO Les De Asis, their table was next to ours at the NY Knife Show. Which meant I got to play with the newest models first!.

No love for Boker knives?

The A.G. Russell 2.5 Titanium Lockback Folder sounds like it is perfect for your needs. If you want a slightly larger blade, there is also the 3.0 Titanium Lockback Folder. These knives are beautifully finished, hold an edge well, and come with a leather pocket pouch. I bought four of the 2.5 as Christmas gifts for people who described wanting a knife for the same reasons you do. All of them loved their knives, and I liked them so much I went back and ordered one more for myself. Russell doesn’t put his name on junk, these knives are substantially better quality than a knife you would buy at the same price point from a department or sporting goods store.

I find that the 707 Sequel goes with a suit just fine. For multi-tool needs, I have a Leatherman Micra on my keychain.

Hehe, yeah, umm I forgot about that one officer. :smack:

The Top Lock with the black Kraton inserts on the strap of my shoulder bag.
That lock style is a little dangerous to carry, there are cheap knockoffs that are automatics so they pretty much guarantee you the extra thorough frisk when you get “Terryed”.
Which, somehow, is never as much fun as you think it should be. :frowning:

Yes, I do always carry 3, 4, 5 knives on me, doesn’t everyone?

Moore Maker might appeal to you if you’ve a hankering to own something with an old-timey feel to it. Their double-lockback trapper has been calling out to me for a while now. If you don’t want to go as spendy as Moore Maker, Queen Cutlery and Case Cutlery (both available through SMKW) have knives similar to many of Moore’s.

I go for the Victorinox Hiker - I prefer the philips screwdriver to the corkscrew, but the woodsaw is probably overkill (I use mine mostly for Scouts and camping activities, where chopping wood is common).

Well, I love my Leatherman Micra– I’ve carried it almost every day for the last twelve years or so. It’s got really nice little scissors, and plenty of other useful little tools. The knife blade does not lock, however, so if that’s important, it’s not a great choice. However, it’s a great keychain tool.

I went through a Ken Onion/Kershaw obsession in high school, all the onion series knives are slim and would work well with a suit.

I love my Benchmade Griptilians, they’re fantastic EDC knives. I’ve been spoiled by the axis lock, liner locks feel primitive now. I loved liner locks for years but I don’t think I’ll ever buy another one.

A.G. Russel tends to be a bit over priced but they have a lot of classy looking knives that would actually look nice with a suit; fancy hard woods and such.

The Spyderco Cricket would be a good choice for a suit – it’s very thin and small and kind of non-threatening, but also quite sharp. I liked it somewhat better when they still made it with the black textured handle as opposed to the stainless steel.

I also like the CRKT Van Hoys Snap Lock, not for the steel which is just average, but for the design and the length. It’s a fun knife to fiddle with when you need something to do with your hands (and there’s no one around who will get freaked out that you’re fiddling with a knife).

I’ve carried the Uncle Henry pretty much every day for at least thirty years. It’s still in great condition.

This is mine, too. Light and handy.

I forgot how few of us frequent these threads. I’ll tout a different knife next time.

That’s a knice knife. It would go with a suit, in a 007 kind of way.

This.

For a utility knife, I have a Victorinox Spartan I carry daily. For an emergency knife, I have an Emerson Commander with a wave opener. It’s almost supernaturally sharp (I never do any emergency cutting with it, being an emergency knife and all), and the wave opener is faster than a switchblade, with some practice.

:smack: Make that “I never do any utility cutting with it, being an emergency knife and all.”

I like the Victorinox Compact, great for traveling and camping. It’s got a combo bottle/can opener, cork screw, scissors, and large blade. The hook and the mini screwdriver are worthless, but everything else is pretty much what I need.

Well, this is probably higher end than you’re looking for, but I have three Chris Reeve wood inlay small Sebenzas that I rotate for every - day - carry (EDC). For a work environment, or if you’re just wearing a suit, the Reeve Mnandi is the shiznit http://www.chrisreeve.com/mnandi.htm .

Go to 4:30 on this salt review! I laughed out loud.
