I am a keen amateur photographer (well, mostly vacation pics and outings) and I want to be able to share some of my photos with my family back in England.
I want to use one of the online photo sharing sites (like flickr) but I have no experience with them. I asked around at work but no one here really uses those sites so I turn to you, good people of the dope.
What would you recommend and what would you steer clear of?
I’ve used Snapfish.com the most. Easy to share and send, lets you save all your photos into albums, easy layout and the prints are great. They allow some restrictions on sharing, so not everyone and their brother can view your photos - only those you invite.
Shutterfly.com is more expensive and the prints don’t come out well at all. Their cropping sucks. Ofoto.com was fine, but snapfish won out.
I just switched [del]to Geico[/del] from Photobucket to Picasa. Photobucket changed recently for the worse. I rather like Picasa so far.
There’s also Yahoo! Photos, MySpace, and LiveJournal. I don’t use myspace and the other two are mediocre.
Flickr is nice.

I’m cool with Yahoo! They just upgraded it and it’s easy to do. I’m kinda klutzy with stuff like that and so far it’s fine.

I did a search but I did not put in the correct terms to find that thread, so I started my own.
Try dphoto.com. Fabulous interface, however from the intro on their site, it seems to me they won’t be a free host forever. Definitely check it out though.
