Recommend a (somewhat) educational PS2 game for a 10 YO Boy

Can anyone recommend a somewhat educational PS2 game for my girlfriend’s nephew? He is 10 years old, into LOTR, not so much into sports. He has Guitar Hero II, but I don’t think he plays it enough to be interested in GHIII.

Thats all you have to go on. Ready…GO!

Thanks,
Pash

If you’d like to introduce him to the culture gap between the US and Japan, try Katamari Damacy. It’s also a blast.

Edge-u-case-on-al? On the PS2? Surely you must be joking.

Honestly, take him to the game store, give him a 20 and tell him to pick what he wants (just make sure it’s not rated M For Mature). With that little to go on you may as well just be groping blindly.

Though not educational, Lego Star Wars is fun for all ages. There are also LotR games based on the movies that he might enjoy.

Does he like racing games? Flat Out would definitely appeal to a 10 year old. It’s a demolition style racer but drivers can be ejected from the cars, without gore, so it’s a judgment call based on what his parents allow him to play.

Without more to go on, it’s hard to say much more.

Edit: I’d second Justin Bailey’s suggestion. We gamers are notoriously hard to buy for if you’re trying to surprise us.

Unless you want to go the inadvisable route and buy him one that topless biking game: every ten year old likes bikes.
