Recommend a very dark honey I can get online.

Someone in my family likes dark honey and I want to get them some for Christmas. Any suggestions?

I can’t specify a specific brand, but I’d go with buckwheat honey if they like dark. I just get one of the Polish ones down at my local grocery store.

We’re talking bees honey, right?

Yeah, I came back to this forum, re-read the title and realized right away it could be misinterpreted. Yes, I mean bees’ honey.

I’ve seen buckwheat honey and it’s definitely darker but even with buckwheat there’s a fair amount of variation. I was hoping a particular brand was always very dark.

After looking at some shipping prices maybe I want to buy it in the store. If you have any stores you’d recommend I live in the Boston area.

I just go to the local Polish/Eastern European market. That part of the world loves their honeys and I usually can find 7-10 different types of honey: acacia, buckwheat, wildflower, clover, basswood, honeydew (which is actually something a little different), etc.

From looking online, there appears to be an interesting raw honey purveyor in Cambridge called Follow the Honey that seems like it would have good gifts for a honey lover.

Try Trader Joe’s too.

This is our favorite local artisan honey place: http://keez-beez.com/home Their web store design needs a bit of help; note you can scroll left/right and there are more flavors available than you can see at first.

I’ve not had their darkest honey but I can vouch for the overall quality. Since they’re a long way away from Boston, this stuff might have some extra exotic cachet as a gift.

You rock! That was perfect (even if shipping was a little expensive). I just ordered some. Thanks for the suggestion!
