Recommend Me a Bluetooth Speaker

I have no sound system in my home. I’d like a bluetooth speaker I can easily play Spotify Music or podcasts on. It would only be used casually, like to dance with my baby in the living room or listen while I’m in the kitchen. I’m not throwing any dance parties or anything.

I know Bose is a good company so I was looking at this one:

But I don’t know if something like this has a really robust sound or if it’s going to sound flat and tinny. I do have some small portable speakers and the sound quality is not that great.

I don’t really know the right questions to ask for this type of purchase. I’m willing to look at different options. This is something I’m saving up for so I don’t mind if it’s a little more expensive. I’d like something of good quality that lasts.

Thanks!

Bose makes good products but they tend to be pretty overpriced. I once gifted my then-girlfriend an older version of this speaker, and it totally rocked. Great bass, loud as you’d want.

I have the same speaker for walking around listening if I am not in my lounge room. It is perfectly adequate for my purposes. As an old fart who used to do live sound mixing (often on a BOSE PA) I am acutely aware of how ordinary my hearing is now. There are things that I simply do not hear anymore. For that reason, and because I don’t listen to things loud (unless they need to be loud), many $20 - $50 bluetooth speakers sound fine to me.

I think @squeegee pretty much nailed it. The UE speakers are all pretty amazing but if you want something to compare it to the JBL Flip 5 may be worth a listen.

I have one of these Bose speakers. The website shows it for $99, but during the Christmas shopping season it was down to about $40 at Target. I’m seeing it online for as low as $50.

It’s small but mighty. I’m a pro musician used to good sound and I have no complaints. It’s tough, portable and water resistant. Small enough to put in a large pocket.

I’ve got the same Bose as Jumpbass. I use it to listen to classical music while travelling, and though I’m no audio buff, “tinny” is the last word I’d use to describe it.

All right! Looks like I’m saving some money.

I have a JBL. Plays 6 to 7 hours on a charge. I really like the bass. Quite amazing for such a small device.

JBL Charge 4 it’s a speaker and power bank. I have one now but want to buy 2 more. They can be wirelessly chained together for backyard parties. Three speakers around the pool would make sure everyone can enjoy the music without cranking the volume (of a single speaker) too high.
