I’ve started a high-score group called “Straight Dope”.
Once you get good try beating the challenges. The 100 is really hard, I can get to the first flying wave in the 90s.
I must be dense, but I can’t figure out how to make the damn ball move. It pops out and just lays there.
I’ll add my nod to Jay is Games, and also point towards Lazylaces, Escape Games 24, and the Gamer’s Hood forum which is devoted to flash games of all kinds. (They don’t go for spoilers in posts either, hints are ok, but not open spoilers which is nice.) Blue Tea has had entries on various games as well. ETA: Pointing at Aquaria on Escape Games 24, it’s a favorite of mine, very artistic. I think Gamer’s Hood covered the game if you get stuck, also. It’s Myst like to me.
I can’t believe I forgot to mention Albino Blacksheep! They have a section devoted to flash games as well. ![]()
I’ll also throw in Nordinho since others have thrown in lazylaces and Jay is Games – Nordinho tends to be more of a hit or miss affair, but it does find some pretty obscure games.
I don’t think anyone has mentioned this one yet:
My picks so far are Square meal, Acno’s energiser, Acid factory and Adventure Elf. In the last one I’m pretty sure the elf says things an elf shouldn’t oughter say.

Argh-coding right
Spelling wrong
that should be:
(and for anyone game to play adventure elf - beware of the yellow snow)

This one is just evil. It doesn’t require any particular reasoning, just separate the stuff into three or four interrelated clusters, clear those of intersections individually, then try to merge them. The sheer number of points makes it extremely time intensive on levels 6-10.
I’ve spent way too much time on Squares 2
One of my favorite flash games was released way back in 2002: Imagine if Jack Black directed and starred in Eight Legged Freaks, and then a bunch of guys from Activision made a tounge-in-cheek Unlicensed Licensed Game out of it for their own amusement. You might imagine something a little bit like Age Of The Ants.
Another fantastic flash game is the completely impossible Impossible Quiz. It’s a lot of fun to take it, but I must warn you- it is impossible.
Coming back to add three more sites. Crazy Monkey Games, Armour Games, XGen Studios.
Murloc RPG from XGen Studios is really cute. Sandman is fun too, as is Defend Your Castle, but it can cause sore wrists.
Thanks for the good suggestions. Some of them I’ve played, but some are new too. Here’s a couple more timewasters:
anyone else playing this? i got 17 once and never got close ever since. it’s driving me crazy!
Is there any way to keep the thingamabob from automatically moving back and forth? It’s a fun game in a cerebral sense, but waiting for just the right shot to line up can get a bit tedious – not to mention frustrating.
Fun game (my best is only 13), but if you know how I can just aim the damn thing I’d find it much better.
the scores in that thread…
yeah Rhythmdvl, it’s frustrating not being able to control the aim or the power of the shot.
I may never sleep again…
One more: Portal, The Flash Version.
That’s a big part of the game, if you could just keep shooting the exact same shot over and over it wouldn’t be nearly as hard.
I got 20-something last night.
