I’ve been getting more and more into doing little hobby electronics projects - mostly just breadboarding my own stuff. I’d like to start building some basic little fun/novelty kits, the type that come with a little board, the appropriate resistors and caps, and a little schematic. You know, the type of thing that can be done for fun without being a huge commitment, so that I can get used to soldering, troubleshooting things, even doing little modifications and so on. You used to be able to find these things at Radio Shack for a few bucks.
I’d like to order some online, so hit me up with your favorite web catalogues and sites that have things like this. I’m particularly into musical things and weird nosiemakers.
I’m not really into electronics, but I’m into audio, and Parts Express (www.partsexpress.com) has audio projects. I’m not sure if they have amplifier projects or anything like that, but they certainly have speaker kits where you have to put the thing together, including building the crossover network. They have kits that you can buy as a package, and also they have published projects, where I think they also have things set up so you can buy the whole components list with a few clicks.
The speaker crossover networks usually just have a handful of components, but they might be good for practicing soldering. You can definitely modify them, and there are some people who have published alternative schematics for their BR-1 speaker kit and probably others.
Those should fall into the “musical things” category and possibly “noisemakers” as well.
That stuff looks cool, but I’m talking more stuff like this for now.
