I heard some work by jazz-fusion drummer Billy Cobham today, and it reminded me I’ve wanted to get some of his stuff.
What CDs should I start with? I definitely like the fusion sound I’ve heard, but I don’t know which tracks I have already heard.
From the Wiki discography - I used to have the first 4 solo albums (Spectrum, Crosswinds, Total Eclipse and Shabazz) and I loooved them. I also strongly feel that Birds of Fire, Between Nothingness and Eternity and the 1984 Mahavishnu are must have albums. There’s also all the stuff with Miles, and I’m on the verge of checking out this ‘Live at the Greek’ thing. (Don’t know it, but it sounds like a fantastic line up.) Hope this helps.
I like his 1986 Power Play album, which I think is on GRP.
