I have a lot of free time at work today (since there are no classes and most of the kids have already left campus, the library is a ghost town).

What are some great websites with which to kill time while babysitting the circ desk? Specifically, what are some sites that have interesting factual content that could hold one’s curiosity for a while? Please, no woo-woo, no conspiracy theory sites, no gore, and obviously no porn. Something along the lines of history, mystery, science, etc, would be nice.

Unsolved Mysteries Wiki. You can stay out of the woo-woo UFO cases and read about crimes instead.

Oh, on that note, the Crime Library. In-depth articles on various famous crimes. Ignore the fact it’s owned by TruTV, the site has been around for a long time and switched owners many times, the articles are quality.

I gave up my habit a while ago, but Sporcle, if you’ve never been to it before, will keep you entertained for at least an hour a day for a few weeks and then once you’ve done all the quizzes you’re interested in, you’ll still check back each day for new ones.

www.fark.com FARK is one of the most entertaining time wasters I have ever seen. Been going there everyday for 7 years now. Not only are the articles interesting, the comments section is more fun than a human should be allowed to have.
