I am probably the most frenetic enemy of p2p (pay to play) games imaginable. Unfortunately, I have also become interested in MMOGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Games), which attract subscription fees like flies to rotting meat. Again unfortunately, my pocketbook is empty right now, so games like NWN are right out.
I am interested in finding out if any of you know of some free MMOGs that I could get into/support. Such a game would have to be free to start, charge no subscription fees, and not be a beta for a game that will in the future charge subscription fees and is only free now so that people can become too addicted/involved to back out later (curse you Infantry! CURSE YOU!!).
Currently, I can think of two:
Wulfram II
Planeshift
Wulfram is great, but I’ve played it into the ground, and Planeshift won’t be finished for a few years yet.
Feel free to add your favorite free MMOGs here. I don’t want this to become a debate about the feasibility of other options besides p2p, just a communal sharing of games that fit within the guidelines given.
