Seabreeze (cranberry, grapefruit juice, vodka)
Watching that skit for approximately the 78th time, the ‘Chocolate Choo-Choo’ reminded me of that old classic the Brandy Alexander. Girly and delicious - tastes just like candy .
Sloe gin fizz, margarita, gin and tonic. I always wanted to try a pousse cafe.
At my local on Sundays, they make “Manmosas,” a mimosa in a pint glass. Basically a pint of champagne with a splash of oj.
Yes, I know about Cosmos And The City. Which is why I’ve never had one. Didn’t want to look like someone with no imagination who just orders a drink they think will make them cool. Also figured bartenders were sick of making them.
And Mr. Rilch loooooooves mojitos, so I’ve had plenty of those at home!
Kamikaze would be a bit too strong for me. And anything sour is off the table. So to speak.
Sex on the Beach was a thing when I was in college, as was Sea Breeze.
Tequila Sunrise is already my go-to drink when I don’t feel like a margarita. (Tequila, specifically Cuervo, is my jam.)
Yeah, Harvey Wallbangers. My mom once made a Harvey Wallbanger cake, for the birthday of someone who liked HWs a whole lot. She made a note on the recipe card: “Not bad, but a better use could be found for all that Galliano.”
Brandy Alexander makes me think of MTM, the first episode with the job interview. Mr. Grant pulls out a whiskey bottle and asks Mary if she wants a drink. She hesitates, then says “All right; I’ll have a Brandy Alexander.” Mr. Grant:
Pousse-Cafe I’ve heard of, but can’t pronounce!
And yeah, KITH had it going on.
I actually heard of it first in a chemistry book discussing the specific gravity of liquids. AIUI it takes care to prepare without mixing them (I wonder if you could centrifuge one)…but you still have to drink it carefully so they will remain unmixed.
Someone decided to make one for the Avengers.
I’m back!
First night: Daiquiri was so good, I can’t believe I’ve been legal for thirty years and never had one before. Hurricane was okay, not as good as the daiquiri. Blue Hawaiian was green! Tasted good, though. Second night: Tried a house specialty called Hemingway Daiquiri, which had the same potency as the regular daiquiri, at half the volume. Then a Planter’s Punch, which I’ve had before and already liked, and finally a Mai Tai. Didn’t get to Singapore Sling.
Thanks, all, for the suggestions!
Sounds like a fun time!
