Just the other day in the overhead music in a bank ( ) I heard the most beautiful new music to me that I’ve hear in a year. It had the stoned/blissed out laidbackness of delivery of a lot of the original psychedelic music but had a lot of the lo-fi, melodic influences of indie rock. The closest popular song I can think of that I know that it’s like is The Way by Fastball, although it didnt have loud organs or Costello-like singing, but rather a laid-back melody and earnest yet unstressedout delivery of lyrics.
Now, despite their love for original psychedelia, especially Syd Barrett, bands that have been described as “Neo-psychedelia” to me never quite seemed to have much to do with old psychedelia, even if they made good music. But this band seemed to be both neo and classic psychedelia along with some indie thrown in.
I’m not going to presume to ask if anyone knows who the heck I heard at the bank, but can anyone recommend some music that sounds like what I just described?
