Okay, I’ve managed to end up with a gift certificate for 20 euros from Amazon.de – and I’m located in the U.S. It doesn’t seem sensible to have anything shipped here from Germany, but I was wondering if I could maybe use it for digital downloads somehow? Would I be able to use my US account somehow?
If not, hmmm, is there some way I can donate it to a charity or something?
I can tell you that you certainly can’t go in the opposite direction - I have credit at Amazon.com and have ordered stuff from Amazon.de and have not been able to use my credit. Amazon.de uses the same account - same username, same password; Amazon.de “remembers” all my credit card information, address book, etc., but conveniently ignores my gift card balance. I’ve never bothered to ask Amazon.com customer service about it since it seems pretty clear, but if you wanted a definitive answer, you could just call Amazon.com.
