So, I received a gift through Amazon. I already have this item, and due to circumstances that are not important, instead of getting a gift certificate or credit for the cost of the item, I’d rather just have Amazon credit the person’s credit card for the amount. I haven’t heard from Amazon or seen this option on their website. Do you know it this is possible?
(800) 201-7575. Ask and they’ll probably do it for you.
Do it quickly! A lot of call centers have, and I’m not saying this is a tactic, a way of not understanding a request and needing more information and otherwise stalling until it’s too late to issue a refund.
Who KNEW they had an 800 number!! Thanks!
I also did not know Amazon had a toll free number.
Some hours after I posted the OP, an Amazon customer rep (Amazonian?) emailed me and said that with items marked as gifts, they usually will handle the return in the form of a gift certificate/credit issued to the gift recipient. Since I asked for the credit to go back to the purchaser, however, she would “watch” for the return and credit the purchaser.
I guess it can & hopefully will be done.
As for needing more information, I’m returning the gift in the packaging and box it came in along with the packing slip. I don’t have any more information to give!
