Declining an Amazon Gift Card Sent Through Email?

I was sent an email-based Amazon Gift Card by a harasser and would like to decline the gift without responding directly to the person. Is there a way I can do this?

Ask Amazon?

In my experience, amazon gift cards don’t get added to your account until you log into your amazon account and either copy and paste the gift card number in the email or click a link in the email. So if you really don’t want it, just ignore the email.

You may get a couple of reminder emails and the sender will get a notice that the card has not been redeemed.

But you can just discard the email and the reminders and nothing will happen to you.

Save it, unused, as evidence. You may someday want to make a case against the harasser. Save any correspondence or emails you may receive from that source. Keep a journal and record any instances of the harasser driving by or coming to your home or your place of business.

Yep check your Amazon account page, you will probably see no sign of a gift card credit unless you go through the steps of redeeming the code.

This.

I can make this go away. Just PM the code to me and I’ll do the rest.

I’d like to hear more about the harasser. Have you documented the stalking?

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I’m planning to ignore it. It’s nice that Amazon doesn’t automatically redeem it, even if it’s sent to an email address associated with an Amazon account. I hope Amazon eventually sends the person a notice that it wasn’t redeemed.
