I was thinking of buying the personal edition of Redhat Linux 8.0 today. It seems to have a few new features. I’ve already got v.7.0. Is it worth upgrading in your opinions?
Thanks.

I probably should have posted this in IMHO.
Before you spend money and purchase it, maybe you should download the disk images and give it a whirl for free. Red Hat allows this, you just don’t get tech support.
I tried it and liked it, but I don’t use it on a regular basis and can’t really judge it fairly.
If you use KDE, go for it! The new KDE 3.0 is a blast!
[sub]Supposedly gnome has changed too, I don’t use it, so I wouldn’t know[/sub]
Otherwise it’s not that big a deal. From what I’ve understood, the difference between 7.1 -> 7.2 was bigger. The main difference with 8.0 is that they now include all the goodies, that you had to download separately earlier.
And, don’t re-post in IMHO, just tell a mod, and they’ll move the post for you!
I’m a complete linux n00b, and I had no trouble with it at all. In fact, I’m now using it as my primary OS. I’ve run into a bit of frustration trying to compile a few apps, because appartently RH sticks a few libraries in non-standard directories, but other than that, it’s been pretty smooth sailing.
