I was gonna wait, but I see your yearly masturbation-fest has already started, eh Dave?
The Ravens couldn’t whip Sister Rosalie’s College of Sewing in a best-of-3. Tommy Maddox, Plaxico, and Hines are gonna take your defense to school.

So this is when you turn it all around, huh? What are you at now… 4 consecutive losses to us? What’s changed since then?
Healthy Ray Lewis. Ed Reed a year older. Granted, your D will be monster tough again this year. But that offense? Ha! Redman at the helm, Travis “Bust” Taylor is your # 1 WR. Ohhhh, but wait, you’ve also picked up Colonel Sanders and Gimpy Robinson. Look out!
You better clip those January hopes on JLewis and Heap. While Lewis is pretty good and Heap is looking to be great, I sure wouldn’t want to have to ride a slightly above average RB and a great TE to the promise land.
Enjoy a .500 year.
Dave, i certainly hope you’re right, but at the moment you’re quite a bit more confident than i am about the Ravens’ ability to beat Pittsburgh. Although i must say that the Steelers’ recent performance against Dallas wasn’t exactly awe-inspiring; they were actually rather lucky to get away with the game, IMO.
Yea, because a couple of top notchers like Zeroue and Riersema are just so intimidating.
I’m confident that our offense will be fine, though certainly not spectacular. Redman dosen’t make mistakes for the most part, relying on the D for the big play. Last time we had that with Dilfer we went all the way. If I was you, I’d be worried by your own house. Maddox is playing like Maddox of '92 and not like Kurt Warner of '99, I think he got his feelings hurt when he didn’t get a big raise after last year. The last 3 games of the year last year, the vaunted steel curtain gave up more than 30 points in each game. You’ve got some problems and question marks on the lines, both O and D. I think there are more problems in Stiller land than you may be willing to admit.
I was pointing out JLewis and Heap as the stars and focus points of your offense. If you want to do the same for me, then kindly roll your eyes at Ward and Burress, BOTH of whom were top 5 in the NFL last year.
I’m am readily willing to admit any faults.
Oline:
Jeff Hartings Knees are a problem. But, Chukky Okobi has looked good when I have seen him in there. It’s a step down, but not a death blow.
Kendall Simmons and his diabetes. He dropped a lot of weight and missed a good chunk of camp, but I think he’ll be ready for opening day.
Defense:
As for the rest of your post…um, what?
•Maddox preaseason was 21/37 for 242 yds, 1 TD and 0 INT. He looked sharp as a tack in the Dallas game, hitting Hines and Plax in stride on multiple plays.
•Where are the DLine question marks?
•Roll your eyes at Zereoue, but I’ll just point to stats last year against Balt: in 2 games, he avg’d over 4 YPC and had 4 TDs. Maybe you should be intimidated!
Must…get…thread…back…on…topic…
Maybe all you Skins bashers can back off a bit. We haven’t had a winning season since 1999, the last year we didn’t have an owner playing fantasy football with our team. We celebrate every win we can get.
If they make 9-7 this year, I will be overjoyed. But I’m not holding my breath.
9-7??!?!?!?!?
If this thread had been started simply in an effort to discuss Washington’s chances this year, you would have my sympathy.
But it was started with the express intent of scoffing at Ravens fans. You shouldn’t get offended when people respond in kind.
Hey, I’m optimistic.
Lemme clarify and expand on that.
9-7??!? Are you nuts?!?
Two years ago: 7-9 with a long winning streak at the end
Last year: 7-9
They don’t have the talent to go 9-7, not in the East. They have to play NY and PHI twice each, and they never seem to play Dallas very well, either.
5-11
Nah, I was just messing around. No offense taken.
Actually, it was started to scoff at one particular one.
The rest of you are just collateral damage.
I wouldn’t be a good fan if I didn’t expect them to have a winning season every year, would I?
Last year, with Spurrier still learning how a lot of stuff that worked in NCAA Division I didn’t work in the NFL, and taking over a woeful offense that had been decimated by the Norv-to-Marty-to-Spurrier changes of philosophy (plus Snyder’s meddling), the Redskins still managed to go 7-9.
Before the preseason began, I would have picked them to improve to 9-7. Better players (and players more suited to Spurrier’s style of play), and a more realistic understanding on Spurrier’s part of what it takes to win in the NFL, had to result in at least a modest step up, I figured.
I’m a bit more worried as a result of the first couple of games, and I still think Patrick Ramsay should be viewed as “easily the best of last year’s bad lot of Redskins QBs” rather than necessarily “the guy you want to build a QB-driven offense around.” But I’d still place my money on 9-7.

Well, I’m a fewe hours early, but…Lesse:
I hope your organization does not go bankrupt buying icebags for your rookie QB after the ass kicking he took today.
Your offense was just pitiful. I could elaborate but I will leave it at that.
I at least thought your Defense would keep this a respectable game. Did they even show up? Maddox was marching at will on them.
You’d think that Chris McCallister would learn to shut his fat mouth. Game after game Plax and Hines treat him like a disabled child on the field, and yet still he jaws away. Oh well, That was 5 wins in a row. Maybe it’ll start to sink in with # 6.
1-0 feels good, we haven’t won on opening day in a while.
