Regain control of a hobby group's Facebook page?

I’ve been voluntold to help a group out with their FB page. It’s an association that is essentially a hobby club that puts on a judged art show each year where I work. They have a newsletter and meetings and whatnot.

They created the association’s FB page in 2011 and basically forgot about it for years. They want to start actively using it again, but the problem is no current members have access as an admin or mod. They’ve tried contacting the people credited with making the page in the “about” section and haven’t gotten replies.

Interestingly, someone still has access to the page, because they post quite frequently. However, it is just linking to other people’s/groups’ vaguely art-related posts; there is no community interaction or even commentary on their links. They tried messaging the page directly 3 times and haven’t gotten a response. I’m thinking it’s possible it’s been taken over by someone outside the group (even if just a bot), but I don’t know how to confirm this. I posted in their “Help Community” but no one replied.

Facebook has made it impossible to actually directly contact them for things like this. I don’t want to report a hacked account because I don’t know if it actually is hacked. Is there a way to contact them to show identification of current members (including the association’s President) so they can have admin rights granted?
