Reince Priebus

'the fuck kinda name is “Reince Priebus?”

i was wondering the ethnicity myself. i before e? e before i?

heaven help him if he is ever a write in candidate!

No idea, but I tell you what:

The name has not come up in the “de facto leader of the Republican Party” thread in Great Debates!

Here is Jon Stewart’s take, and here is Colbert’s. Everybody’s commenting on the name but so far I can’t find anyone who has addressed the obvious question of his background. Reince sounds sort of German to me, and there’s no shortage of Germans in Wisconsin.

Back in probably 2005-2006, when the battle lines for the 2008 election were just starting to shape up, I remember there was one guy who I was absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, positive could never get elected President. His name made him sound like he was a Vulcan terrorist, and I was certain that Mr. and Mrs. middle America just wouldn’t go for it…

But Barack Obama seemed to do OK for himself.

It really sounds like something Bill Cosby would say.

The name didn’t even ping my radar as odd because I am so used to the general public nowadays coming up with youneek names. Just wait a few years when we start seeing people named Nevaeh and Jayden in positions of authority (I just recently started hearing about people using Godsgift as a first name - I guess Nevaeh is now too popular and mainstream for some, so that’ll probably be the next big name).

He’s definitely a Vulcan - he acknowledged Spock with the Vulcan salute.

I keep seeing it as “Prince Riebus” at first glance.

This is fun!

His family is Greek.

Is it just me, or does this sound like the name of someone who should be hanging out at the Star Wars cantina.

Reece’s Pieces.

According to this site, Priebus is a German name.

I’m trying to get pix of his parents.

It has been pointed out that if you take all the vowels out of his name, you get RNC PR BS.
